I am using the Transmitter 1 for a wireless 5.1 set up with 18/19 front and 15 in the ceiling behind us ( with 2 receiver 1).
I have used it for many years without any problems until it started dropping channels recently and the 15's from time to time are making weird sonic noises ( sounds like clearing your throat) when they are not being utilized in 5.1 operation. ( They are on but not required at a particular moment in time).
I think they are two entirely different problems -
dropping of channels is probably influenced by a 5 ghz modem - not totally sure yet but it looks that way
the sonic noises are really driving me nuts and I am concerned will ultimately damage the speakers.
I am not sure that Transmitter 1's can actually " fail" - my seems to work perfectly well, resets as required and for what its worth I am also using it for a second zone with 4000 and receiver 1's and never have a problem.
I probably have to go through a process of elimination and the Transmitter 1 is a good place to start and I would like to find out if:
A) Is there anything better out there - that can do a 5.1 job ?
B) Are there any software updates for the Transmitter 1, and how do I find out details about that.
Thanks,
You can find the latest software update here: https://support.bang-olufsen.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041404192-beolab-transmitter-1
Note that there was no transmitter 1 update since Jan 2018
Regarding a better device, I would look at SoundSend from Wisa if available in your region. I have not tested it personally but coming from the Wisa group itself, we can hope for a good product.
Regarding the 5 GHz wifi interferences, I recently configured my 5 GHz hotspot channel with a value superior to 48, e.g. 60 which is part of the DFS range, and I have had no trouble since.

Hi Louannec,
Thank you for the SoundSend recommendation.
I am not sure it can do 5.1.
The way my set up works is this:
I am using a Marantz SR 6013 AVR, and I am using the pre-amp out for front, rear and sub plus a 2nd zone.
The pre-amp out go to specific PL "in" on the Transmitter 1 which then sends to the corresponding speakers.
I think the SoundSend is not able to do that?
Tifoso48:I think the SoundSend is not able to do that?
Correct, it only has HDMI and optical input, so not suitable for your AVR setup, it would replace it and it definitively supports 5.1 and even 7.1
So, it does not support analog at all which would be a bit of a problem in my case.
I am running a hi end phono stage into the Marantz and then using direct/pure direct into the Transmitter 1.
Net, net, it would appear that for my particular needs the old fashioned transmitter 1 is probably the best option and I just need to find a way to work out the gremlins which have snuck in.
Merci Bien !
