Hi all

In addition to another thread on mine, asking for your reponses/advices for me to integrate my BS9000+BG6500 with the BS Core, I have now bought an BS Core and connected my speaker setup (BL4000 mkII and BL11). This works perfect as intended. Currently the BS9000 and BG6500 are not connected.

With my Sonos Connect I have for the past 8 years been using the following music sources: Spotify Connect (80% of the time), and for the remaining 20%: TuneIn web radio, CDs, vinyls and dlna streaming from the local NAS server.

I have seen from other discussions in this forum that BS Core with DLNA steaming work poorly, but in the end, it should be possible.

I have some issues with the BS Core:

1)
The salesman in my local B&O Store told me, when the BS Core was not playing any music, it would set the BLs in stand-by mode after approx. 5 minutes.
This is NOT happening for my BS Core. They speakers stays on (LED=green), until I manually set the BS Core in stand-by mode via the B&O App.
Is this really the case with the BS Core - do we have to "turn off" the music system manually like in the old days with eg. the BS9000?

It is very easy to activate the speakers e.g. via Spotify Connect, but it seems there is a lack of feature for the BS Core to automatically put the speakers in stand-by after a couple of minutes.
My experience from Sonos speakers is, that they automatically switch off the amplifiers when no music have been played for just 1 minute - even if you just pause the music from the Spotify app. The only exception is when Sonos plays music from the aux port - even with no signal, the amplifiers stays on, until the user stops Sonos from playing music from the aux.

2)
The only music source I have succeed to use is Spotify Connect (from the Spotify app). I cannot figure out how to pick other sources from the B&O App (i.e. TuneIn and DLNA). What am I missing? I am happy to provide you with screenshots of my B&O App, if this will help you.

PS: I have ensured the latest firmware is installed on the BS Core, as well as the B&O App have been updated.

Did you configure the TuneIn account and the DLNA server in the B&O App?

the Core and speakers should goto stdby after a certain time. You are sure nothing is connected to the Core to keep it alive?

I think there is a “store mode” setting on the core. If this is activated it might possibly be keeping the core on permanently. Just a shot in the dark.

Yes, it is only the speakers which are connected. No other external inputs are used, and I have not yet configured any external connections in the app.

When I stop the playback of Spotify Connect (either from the Spotify app or from the B&O app), the B&O app shows the music is paused - i.e. I can quickly return to the current song, which do make sense. But is does not make sense that the speakers remain on for so long - after 15 minutes I have convinced myself that something is not right.

It seems I finally found it by searching a lot through this fantastic forum!
On the B&O App home menu (before selecting a product), one has to click on the user/person symbol in the upper right corner (it used to be a cogwheel), and then enable BeoLink. Suddenly all the missing music sources appears. Hopefully this will solve my 2nd question.

I have an update for my question no. 1:

The user manual for BS Core is not very useful at all. But since the BS Core is also an integrated part of BS Shape I thought perhaps the user manual for Shape could elaborate a bit further - and it did.

In the Troubleshooting section of manual is stated for power cycle amplifier "If the system has not been playing music for more than 20 minutes, the amplifiers enters standby".

And I can confirm that this is also the case when the Core is used outside of Shape, i.e. with other BL speakers connected. My BL4000 and BL11 did turn off 20 min. after the music was paused.

Now, I would strongly suggest B&O to enable a user defined stand-by time in the BS Core, so the 20 minutes could be less. But at least now I can relax, knowing that my speakers will enter standby, in case I forgot to do it manually in the B&O App / Beo Remote.
