Hello Beopeeps

In need of some assistance

More than likely moving house in a month to a room with a different shape.

Currently my eclipse is square to wall so its really simple

Moving to a house that has a fireplace is great but reduces the place i would put the TV slap bang opposite the main sitting sofa.

I had two thoughts one shown below is to put the TV in front of the window where there is a small radiator and the lab 5’s either side, not 100% sure it would fit there unless the door is perm closed, it would be at a right angle to the fireplace, but should be OK I think.

I would turn the rad off as there is another one in the room a big double.

Option 1

Very square and surround works well etc with 6000’s facing inwards towards the back sofa and the 4000’s as sur height, I could add more 4000’s for rear speakers in this house and layout giving 7.0.2

This layout downsides are maybe not being able to use the door but the benefits in more sound and less heat from the rad in the TV but close to the fireplace.

Option 2

This option the room does flow better with both use of the doors BUT the TV will be in front of a large radiator (double).

The room will not be square anymore but the TV can sit against the wall when off and swing out into the room when the TV is on, or just stay out in the room.

What is the best option ?

I cannot make up my mind, if using option 2 and i have to turn down the radiator then the room could get quote cold?

What’s your best thoughts?

I think either your B&O gear is to big or the room too small Big Smile

Consider an option 3 were you close the right door and use the wall for your Eclipse and BL5’s. Put one couch next to the fireplace against wall and get a nice swivel chair to put in front of the fireplace. My guess is you have the best sound experience and also viewing experience from both coach and chair. Two couches might be overkill in the room.

I would not put the TV and BL’s so close to window and fireplace in option 1.

Hope this helps

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

I don’t like either option but out of the 2 the second is the better choice.

Much depends on where the sockets are located unless you have free reign to change all of these around.

Without looking at this in too much detail my initial thought is to change the position of the right hand sofa with the tv and BL5s as shown in Option 1. This is a nicer setup with a good sense of space around all the objects in the room including fireplace, radiators, doors, tv, sofas etc. However, since the tv and speakers would now be in the middle right of the room, you’d need to consider how to cable it all in. The easiest way would be with a large rug that goes up to the walls and then hide the cables under that. Not necessarily the best solution but the easiest workable without too much extra work.

Addiional questions:

1. What is that behind the tv/speakers in Option 1 - a large window?

2a. Where are the tv, electricity, telephone points etc?

2b. What will you need/use for tv, satellite, cable, other?

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Thanks for replying. Given me some good food for thought.

Had a good look today and frustrated, the living room looks to only have one double socket for all Bang and Olufsen.

TV Ariel is alone by the radiator next to the fireplace, I would have to run extension leads everywhere so I think it’s back to the drawing board.

Not getting the feeling that it just works, the search starts again I think

How about trying to create two ambients. One on the right side with your BV and BL5s opposite to where they are in your first picture and a second zone/ambient with the fireplace, maybe more reading/chilling/chatting oriented.

House move is back on.

I will play with the layouts and see what works best and feedback should get the keys this week.

Good morning

I have a question if anyone can help and its about power consumption.

Is it ok to have the Eclipse TV part and sound center with apple TV on an extension lead 13amp fused on one of the sockets in double socket and the other socket running a Beolab 5 or in fact both of them.

Is it OK to run eclipse and 2x Lab5 speakers on a double 13amp socket?

I know some people use an extension lead off a single but I would prefer to be safe from the beggining. currently My whole setup runs on two double 13amp sockets with a single 13amp power lead to the TV that splits into three C7 cables using a splitter.

Thank you

Sean

Hello there

I tend to agree with you that the room flows better with the TV on the right side away from the fire but I can still see the fire from the main sofa.

as for the additional questions

1. Its a large window

2a. The sat cable and single power socket is next to the radiator, I hope not too close as I found at Screwfix a 1 gang to 2 gang or a 1gang to 3 gang power socket convertor fused at 13amp which I could use for 2x Lab 5 and Eclipse.

2b. I only use Apple TV additional to the two power sockets for the TV which I have combined as one.

cheers

Sean

Hello Beoteam

So think it will be option 2 as it flows better

So my question is where should the surround lab 6000’s go and the lab 4000’s sur high go in this room?

Cheers

Went with this layout and it works well from my normal sitting position and all cables hidden at least at the TV and front speakers side.
