Hi guys.

Ha anybody heard 8000's (Mk II) and 8002's side by side?

I was thinking the AB amp would be better (a little like the 4000's - maybe a warmer sound....)

The 8000's are 5 years old unused.  The 8002's are ex demo in a box.

Difference, 400 pound.....(s)

Has anybody heard any difference?

Thanks. XO

Hi.

I haven't heard them side by side but if I remember correctly when the 8002 was launched even B&O stated there was no difference in sound performance (or words to that effect). I am also considering buying either the 8000 or 8002 so will be following this thread carefully. Not sure what the actual difference was, hopefully someone on the forum with 8002 will advise.

Thanks,

Graeme.

Go for the "old" BL8000 MKII with bass improvement. 3 years ago I owned the BL8002 but traded them for a pair of BL9 (BL9 is such a huge difference). This spring I bougth a pair of BL8000 MKII all black for rear speakers after my BL4000 MKII with ICE "passed" away.

If I had the choice between "old" AB amp and "new" ICE amp, I would never go for the ICE amp. ICE was only introduced to meet the EU standards for better energy efficiency.

The only disadvantage BL8000 MKII against BL8002 is, you will hear the AB amp on-off switching (sounds like a little plopp).

With BL8000 MKII you will have the better speaker, nib one, and you save some money.

I'm being proposed a set of BL8000s, with serials 17385766 and 1680100, which doesn't make much sense, according to the info above... that somehow means one MKI, and one MKII speaker ???

Sorry, wrong thread.
