I’m asking if anyone has encountered this scenario before:
This tape unit plays and records, but will not rewind, fast forward or fast rewind.
The belts were replaced (correctly, thanks to Martin) with the Beoparts-Shop kit, C217 and C417 on the Dolby board which have been reported to be troublemakers.
FF engages, but almost immediately disengages. Rewind engages the cassette, but it is still playing forward.Tested with two different cassettes.
On rewind the take-up reel is rotating in the correct direction, but the supply reel is not moving and it appears that the take-up clutch gears are engaged, but those are not moving the reel.
Are these conditions because there is insufficient torque for the take-up pulley? Or does the FF 22RL3 solenoid and/or the wind 22RL2 solenoid need adjustment?
Or should I be looking in the Music Search System?
I don’t know if everything worked correctly before I received it since it came with the common issue with old belts.
Any pointers would be helpful.
Are you sure, you got the square belt below decks fitted correctly?
Martin
Thanks for taking a look. I double-checked before I put it back together since I embarrassed myself before. But I will be really embarrassed if I missed the belt routing again. I even made sure that I installed the rubber wheels correctly.
Sorry, I didn't attach the photos correctly.
Looks fine. There must be a problem with a solenoid driver. Can you tell, if they can all operate?
Thanks, Martin. I think you are leading me in the right direction.
This is my most recently purchased BC3300. I didn't really need it, but it was part of an entire Beosystem 3300. I was able to start swapping parts between both tape decks and found that the drive unit is not working correctly. The "old" motor works just fine in the "new" deck and the "new" motor will not work in the "old" deck. This leads me conclude that it is in the drive portion and not on any of the PCBs.
I'll check the solenoids and wiring on the drive portion.

Resolved: it was pretty much a mechanical issue that Martin directed me to.
I found one solenoid was disengaging in two stops, not completely in one smooth movement. Repeated "diagnosis" by operating all of the functions finally caused the solenoid to start working correctly once it became "unstuck".
Another issue was that the clutches were not fully disengaged from the supply (left) reel. Moving it back to the correct position allowed the brake to release.
