7007 stylus arm

Hi,

I’m trying to fix a 7007 for my elderly neighbour. The stylus arm has snapped just before the cartridge head (sorry if I’m not using the right words). It has a MMC5 head, which seems to be fine, the snap is between the metal rod of the arm and the fitting that holds the stylus. 

Would a different system arm work on the 7007 machine?.  For example a 5000 system arm? 

any advice on fitting this part or sourcing this part would be most welcome.
