Hi There-

I have a Beocord that looks health enough, plays tapes, rewinds and fast forward tapes, but i get nothing but a hum in both left and right channels when I try to play a tape through my stereo.

VU meters are flat and don't bounce at all with music on the tape.

Hum appears when you press "play" (after a very nice pop and jump on the VU meters).  Both channels.

It almost seems like something is grounded that shouldn't be and that no signal at all is getting through.

I started looking at voltages and have a healthy + and - 24V coming out of the main rectifier circuit.

Anyone have a suggestion of where to begin as far as common trouble spots with this deck?  Can I save it from being recycled ?

Jeff
