Dear all,
haven't found any specs: has the beovision 4-65 always been full HD?
best regards
elmar
no
The very early versions, which went with the BeoSystem 2 out of the factory, were 720p and not full 1080p HD. These were only sold from around 2005-2007 and had the flat brushed aluminium screen surround.
Then, for another 18 months or so after that, they used the 1080p panel.
After this came the 'Curved' surround, with a bulbous look to it - and a satin finish in around 2009. This featured the Panasonic D9 panel.
Then came the D10 after that in 2010, with the APC 'Camera' scan, which was the final version.
My dates may be a little off, but that's the general timeline!

Beovision 11-55, BeoPlay V1 40, Beosound 9000, Beolab 8000's and 3 Beocom 5's...
The D9 / D10 versions are absolutely excellent by anyone's standards. However, the BV11-55 has an image which is quite something.. I watched a Disney Nature HD Blu-Ray filmed on the African plains recently, and it was nothing short of incredible.
I have a BV7-55 at home, which is superb - but I have to admit that the BV11-55 beats it on image quality, is almost as good on sound, but just doesn't look as 'Premium' as the 7-55...
It all depends what you want from a TV. The 4-65 has a lot of 'presence' ...
Thanks to all for your answers!
Best Regards

Lee,
Do you think plasma still beats LCD/LED ?
I didn't saw a BV12 but i saw one of the last panasonic in my uncle house and the picture from a tv channel was outstanding !
I know a picture from 1080p Blu-Ray is incredible on every HD TV, but i'd like to see if an average picture from tv is still better on a plasma, or on a new LED telly like BV7 or BV11 ?
I own a BV10 and of course, i find the Blu-Ray amazing, but a non HD channel is good but not as good as the good old tubes !
Hi Steph,
Well, I was always 'Team Plasma' for a long time. Nothing could touch the natural look and crispness of image. I thought the D10 Panasonic was as good as it could ever get .. then I saw the Mk5 7-40 and the BV7-55 which matched the Plasma in almost all departments.
So - the best LCD's drew level with the best Plasma's - and I sat on the fence.
Now, the way the BV11 handles motion is incredible. The flow of the image is superior to the anything BeoSystem 3 can produce, plus the image is just as good (if not better) than the BV12.
It's all about progression in technologies. What was great a couple of years ago is now old hat, even though it's still good per se.
Plasma does seem to handle SD a lot better than LCD, but remember that CRT's were made from the ground up to show SD.
I would still back the best plasma against the best LCD for absolute picture performance however the BV11 takes some beating as an all-in-one TV and it seems unlikely B&O will build another all in one Plasma TV however ....................
I have been wrong before!!
Ban boring signatures!
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Thanks guys,
unfortunatly, plasma is an old technology, and with Led and Oled, it could disappear totaly in the comming years !
But i too believe that it produce still today one of the best picture quality.
And a BV4-65, with the latest panel, an updated BeoSystem 3, at a good price could be a very nice solution...
Im quite sure that there were a D11 and "D12" version of the BV4-65, at least the last year of productions 2011 the bv4-65 got thinner and had a weight that was 25kg below previous versions of the ACM model?! Please correct me if Im wrong?
Chris Townsend: Why therefore are manufacturers not producing plasma if as a technology it's better?

Plasma screens are heavy, and delicate (so need more specialist packaging), plus they're expensive to manufacture. LCD screens are light, robust and relatively cheap to make.
Now, imagine you've got half a million screens to ship from China.. and the accountants are all staring at you, drumming their fingers.
LCD it is then boys...

gennaro:Very good point indeed... Which is why I'm stuck on whether I should pick up a store demo BV4-65, or a brand new BV11-55?.?.? I'm so confused... Lol
