Hi I wonder if you could help advise me please, I have a beosystem 2500/ ouverture and at 7am every morning the radio comes on. I have a beolink 1000 and just brought a be04 second hand to try and clear the alarm but I can’t get it to communicate to clear the alarm or get into the clock. I just need to stop it coming on full blast at 7am. Any help or suggestions greatly received.

It has an in built timer that can only be adjusted (or cancelled) with a two way remote such as the Beolink 5000 or 7000 - both quite expensive for a fully working version.

With the system in stand-by, if you press the MUTE button the little green light next to the red standby light should go out.  With the green light out, the system/timer will still come on but the speakers should be muted.

I think there is a way to clear the timers in the service mode if you are happy to take the back off the BeoCenter.

Otherwise, where are you located - perhaps someone local with a BL5000/7000 could help?

Really ?!?

I have a BS Ouverture and #only# use the control panel to set the alarm.

May be there’s a difference with the BS2500?

I was guessing that the OP has a BS2500 and not an Ouverture - the latter lost the two-way remote function, hence has additional buttons (including PROGRAM) on the front panel in order to operate the Timer function.

Hello Guy

many thanks for the answers, I will try the mute option, but you mentioned a service mode, are there details anywhere of how to use that? I am in Essex near Stanstead.

thanks

High CB, unfortunately I don’t have the program button, I hadn’t realised there was a difference between the 2500 and the ouverture

thanks

From the Service Manual it says.  Remove the back cover, switch on the system and short circuit the clamper switch for two or three seconds, whereupon the display will say 'test mode'.  Pressing 7 will then delete 'all preset programmes'.

I think the 'clamper switch' is the switch that operates as the CD clamper is closed.

I have never done this and can't be sure that it works, hence follow the procedure at your own risk!

It was also discussed here: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/38011.aspx  There was a suggestion there to remove/replace the backup battery which would presumably clear the timers also.

I don’t know exactly what shunting the clamper switch does, but I know (tested by myself…) removing the (soldered) battery will erase the factory FM display frequencies offset settings —> not a good idea! (You’ll have to use an oscilloscope to set them again…)

It was also reported (but I can't find the thread) that removing the battery may shift the FM band. That's why I didn't did it and sticked to the mute "option".
But its not always convenient: if the unit its already playing, it switch to the program and sometimes if you have muted or unmuted the unit live, the setting is forgotten.

Also did try remote key commands "in the blind" thanks to Guy but it didn't work, presumably because of a two way IR fault after what I read on a current thread about Beolink 5000. I want also thank a member who proposed to send his Beolink 7000 for me to use it, but shipping back and forth and moreover the risk of loosing or damaging the parcel prevented me to accept. warm thank you to him.

… Or maybe just read the thread more carefully: we are talking about 2300/2500 which are different from "Ouverture" and can't be programmed from the keyboard. (The OP admit his own confusion on 2500/Ouverture. Big Smile

right

I got to be focused on the Ouverture.

The 2500 needs a BL5000 or BL7000 to be reset, as noted!
