ARCHIVED FORUM -- March 2012 to February 2022READ ONLY FORUM
This is the second Archived Forum which was active between 1st March 2012 and 23rd February 2022
During my research for an answer to a question in a recent post here, I stumpled across this document.
I have never heard about this before.
It seems only to be meant for in store installations (aka ‘retail mode’)
Could it be something, that also might be usefull in some user cases?
Anyone with experience in this out there???

All tv’s (except for the previous BeoVisions) have a store mode....in order to impress people in a store environment.

This document seems to be gone from the beoplay site. Or better: the beoplay site is gone altogether.
Does anyone still have the info that was in it? How to enable and disable the retail mode? I do see the option in the configuration page, but unsure what username/password would be needed?

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
In the app, there is an option to fix the volume on the LINE-IN, as well as options for disabling the constant openness for pairing bluetooth. I understand hte retail mode is meant to keep the device from going into standby mode, and disabling bluetooth and control.
That's as far as the info goes on the forum. I can't seem to find the way to enable/disable it? Not that I really need it, but I'd like to know.
This might help - did not try it myself!

A software update for the A2?
Both my M3s are on the latest version already, updated automatically when first installed.
The 'always on' part of the retail mode is of interest to me, as the autosense on the LINE-IN seems to be definitely slower than on the older Beolab 4s, which is kind of bothering me a bit.
crossbytje: I have a pair of M3s, but no google home app. If I could stereo pair them for any source, that would be nice. I have them now as a stereo pair computer speakers through the line-in with a L/R split cable. All is well for most use cases, but when having a teams meeting where I'm doing most of the talking (teaching from home), they shut down when my audience is silent for too long. Then when they do ask a question, I didn't hear it because they were still powering up. 1990: You can adjust or disable the auto sense in the configuration menu! You can also fix the volume. Via the timer you could enable both M3s to wake up and shut down, in order for them to be powered up during teaching hours. crossbytje: Yes, the auto sense is already in its most sensitive setting. They wake up, but I still lose the first few seconds of the sound. The timer/alarm is a good suggestion, I just checked, but I cannot choose the line in source, only tuneIn, standby, or an alarm tone. TuneIn has 7 channels or so I can choose from, I never logged in with a tune in account and it isn't selected as a standard source on the device. Also, there's no duration to have them on, you can only schedule an event at a specific time or after a set timer. Even if that even would be 'turn on on line in', they would still shut down after the autosense tells them to, or at least that is what I would expect. (I once posted in a thread about the 'retail mode' or 'store mode', which I hoped would do this, but I can't seem to turn that on. That thread is here: link, maybe we should take that discussion there?) Then I guess there is one solution if you disable line sense, that is to find a used BLGW and then control everything by macro.

For "previous" read "real"!
Ban boring signatures!
I could also completely disable the autosense, and then the speakers remain on until I shut them down with a long press. That would be acceptable too, were it not that I'm unable to reselect the line-in source after shutting them down. I can press the button once and they appear to wake up, remain silent and after 2-3sec they shut down again. Really annoying. If I use my beoremote one BT, I can select the line in source again. But I really don't want to have to take my remote everytime I put on my computer. More so, do it on 2 speakers!
When powering up, it should play the last source right? But it doesn't if that was the line-in. There's no way in the app to select a source either.
I don't understand these software decisions..
If you work on a Mac you can use the BeoPlay Remote GUI. Just select it from your computer screen!
Hi,
I’m having this exact problem as well. 2 M3’s connected to my computer. They keep shutting off and I can’t hear system sounds and other small short intermittent noises (which don’t even set off the auto sense )
did you end up finding a solution?
thanks
My Beoplay A1 has a retail mode - Iy basically stops the speaker from switching off when there is power attached - I find it really useful when used with my computer - I beleive you go into the beoplay App and then settings - it was also how I configured the sound - pretty sure that's how I did it but it was quite a while ago - I'll reinstall the app and check,
