Hi guys, is it normal for the Level to use almost 10% battery while in standby? I mean turning the Level off using on/off button for 2 seconds till you hear the beep. In the app I can see it uses almost 10%!

So in 9 or 10 days it will be dead without using it.

Thanks for any reply.

Standby is not "off"... It means that it is still using power!

One could argue, that 10% usage in standby, is still rather high though? I mean, shouldn't it just keep a low power access to the WiFi, so it can be woken by the app ? It is spec'd as 4.5W standby power usage.

But, I guess this is why they designed the charger to be nice looking, and easy to use ;)

How is it standby? I can't wake it up by saying heey Google nor can I turn it on using my phone or Beoremote one! It should be using no power at all!!

By contrast, a BeoSound 1 (non-GVA version, if it matters?) uses only 1% to 2% of its battery per day, when left off its mains power, and turned off.

An off-brand comparison: The Sonos Move uses 4% to 5% of its battery per day, when in "full" power-down mode (long button press-and-hold until beep).  In only standby mode (short button-press), the Sonos Move chews through its battery very quickly, maintaining its Wi-Fi connection and fully powering up at random times to do who-knows-what for up to a half-hour each time!  It has been released for 5 months with no change in its battery usage by way of any software update, so I think we must expect that it won't be improved unless the hardware is changed.

Such power consumption makes one wonder what on earth these devices are busy doing, when supposedly powered down?  Monitoring a single soft-power button should be all they need, but maybe that hasn't been separated from the full display/multi-button driver chip(s)?

10% / day makes the "occasional bathroom / shower playing with a weekly recharge" use case impossible.

Hi everyone.
Sorry for a slight off-topic, but I've just read here that after turning the Level off completely, you have to connect it to power supply in order to turn it on again.
To me this looks like a quite strange and annoying feature, especially due to the fact that the stand-by mode eats the battery up so quickly.
Can anybody confirm this? Or have I misunderstood something?

I keep my Level off when not using it. Yes, the battery drains quickly even when totally off. And no, I don’t need to connect it to mains power to turn it back on. (I have non-GVA.)

Currently: BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18, BeoSound Core, Beosound Level, Beosound A1 2nd Gen, BeoPlay S8 Connection Hub, Halo, Essence Remote

Previously: BeoSound 1 non-GVA
