@Mikipedia: The swoosh you hear 1-2 minutes after you turn off your tv is probably the Harddrive spinning down! If it annoys you, you could get an SSD. A question for the next podcast: Do you think it was a good idea for Bang and Olufsen to mix the LG and B&O software? Wouldn't it have been easier to do it like in the past, keep all the image processing/image passthrough and sound processing and just taking the panel from LG?
Hi Beosince98,
thanks for watching and the questions. on the first part, my eclipse makes that sound regardless of whether the hard drive is plugged in or not. If ''spinning metal'' makes this loud a sound it would be worrisome :p It's the sound a capacitor makes when it drains of energy rapidly, I know this sound very well from an old water cooled pc I used to have. the pump and fans etc. were on a separate PCB and one of the capacitors went bad and it made this exact sounds. I've asked my dealer and B&O about it, my dealer says it's strange and probably not good but B&O says it's fine. so I guess we'll see how long the PSU in the LG bit lasts like this because it's only on the screen part :p
the next question I'll leave for the show next Sunday, hope to see you there :D

Hi everybody,
We wanted to make a quick announcement for this Sunday's show, don't worry it's still the same time at 7pm central European time.
This week we'll have a special guest joining us for the whole show, he's a Beonut just like all of us and he probably has more knowledge about all things B&O of the past 20 years than Erik and I combined as he does this for a living :)
Here is a link to his setup and such: https://www.instagram.com/bangandolufsenyyc/
So if anybody has any questions, you can leave them on here or join us in the live chat, don't miss out on this one!
Hope to see you all live on Sunday 7pm central European time or you can watch it back later on YouTube (link in bio)

Hi Guys,
Really enjoyed the last few podcasts so well done!!
A few questions:
First one is for Michael: Can you talk about how the the 50´s perform without the use of the center speaker on the Eclipse. Willie mentioned, last week, thats how he used the the tv with the 90´s and I was just wondering how they performed, do the manage well with speaking. The reason I ask is I only use Bang & Olufsen speakers with 3rd party tvs, just a personal preference, and dont normally use a center speaker. Center does not pass wife acceptance factor . I would also like to hear the latest on your issues, I hope you are close to a solution
Second is more a topic request, it would be great to get Willie´s experience on integrating with 3rd party tv´s, what does he use as a bridge? Core, Almando, other options (maybe with an arc option to control volume with the tv remote, I just ordered the neeo remote for my tv)? and in what configurations, stereo or surround?
Finally, do you consider the 5´s a worthy purchase today? I own 20´s been thinking about a change. Also thinking about 50´s, I have seen a couple of good ex demo deals but its a completely different price range... What would you consider the pro and cons of the 5s as a purchase today for music and tv.
Its cool if you don´t answer this all today . Thanks a lot!
Kind regards,
Ammier
Very much enjoying your podcasts it's just a shame the time zone doesn't line up for me very well! I have a question i'd love to be answered today as I have to make a decision tomorrow morning on a new television. Do you guys think I should buy an Avant 85" or get the Eclipse 65" or wait until the new 77" is released later this year? Is the tech in the Eclipse that much better than the Avant? Is OLED & HDR absolutely necessary? All of my 5's, 9's and 8000's are white so the fabric/alu/wood options on the Eclipse is a little disappointing just now!

Hi Ammier & Luke,
thanks for your questions :D
I'll take note and make sure to go over it today with Willie and Erik!
if there is anything else, don't be afraid to ask
michael
Hi Luke!Yes, it is a shame that the time zones doesn't line up for you. But Michael always post our talk on Youtube on his channel. We love that we get questions so feel free to ask them here and we will answer in the podcast and you can later watch later. If we somehow ran out of time and didn't answer the questions we can write back to you in this forum.Btw, Love that you also like Beo in white. //EA
Prime positioning of the Saturn V Eric - excellent :-)
Thanks guys for taking the time to answer my question regarding the BV Eclipse/Avant. I've ended up going for the 85", the space I have just about works for the size and I very much prefer the B&O feel of the Avant (Android OS excluded!). I love B&O products in white, I have 2 sets of 5's, 1 set of 9's, 1 set of 8000's, 11-55, 7000 system, MX4002 and A9 all in which are in white. The only thing I haven't got (yet) is a white 9000, but then I seem to have no more room for all of my B&O equipment!
I suspect you'll be very happy with the picture on the 85 inch Avant.
Obviously bigger screens can look more impressive than smaller ones, but that aside i was rally taken aback at the 85 inch when i saw one at a dealer in London. The screen tech is better than the current 55 and 75 Avants.
When they switched to Android the screen tech changed from edge lit to back lit with global dimming (on the 55 and 75). That was a step down from the previous 55 and 75 versions - i had a BV14 with the global dimmed / backlight tech, and its not great at all in some circumstances. I switched it to a Avant 55 pre Android with edge lit tech and its a better screen.
But you're on much safer ground with the 85 Avant, because from pre Android to Android versions, the fundamentals of the screen tech didnt change, and remained pretty darn good.
You wont have HDR of course, but i'm guessing that isnt that important to you (not judging here).
Hi Michael, Erik and Willie,
Just wanted to thank you all for answering my questions. Caught part of it yesterday and just watched the rest.
@Michael, name pronunciation was spot on the second time, the non-French sounding . By the way have you tried plugging in a core to your 50´s instead of the Eclipse just to check that the latter is not the source of your clicking, I cant recall if you said you did in your warranty video.
I am going to park the 5´s option for now. Considering the 50´s but not moving to the new house in Norway til end of the year so no rush. I would like to see how the issues pan out and if they release something in between.
By the way, the reason I dont buy B&O tv is I am split personality between Tech and Design. B&O satisfies the design and the sound of the speakers appeals but I have quite a high turnover with TVs. Prefer image quality and processing on the Sony´s and Panasonics, I also think they are all going into a neutral design territory the thinner they get.
Anyway thanks again and I look forward to next weeks episode!
Double post
Good choice! We all thought that the Avant 85" would be best for your place. Please feel free to post a picture of your setup with the Avant when it is up and running. And for me who also have a lot of Beo in white I have plans to customize the Eclipse aluminium front so it will be the same white as BL12 came in. //EA
Haha! Yes, I thought it looked nice there. Don't know if it was you or someone else that in an earlier podcast wanted me to show the Saturn V.It looks nice next to my white BL5s. //EA
ErikVonAgnar: Haha! Yes, I thought it looked nice there. Don't know if it was you or someone else that in an earlier podcast wanted me to show the Saturn V.It looks nice next to my white BL5s. //EA
Yes it was me Erik. I saw your original post when you built the Lego set and promptly ordered one myself. Luckily I too have BL5s to put it next to but they have been in boxes for the past 2 years whilst building work continues. Should be moving in this summer and will post up some pictures then.
Well done on your pod cast - enjoyed it whilst ogling those white 90s!!!
Hi Michael,
Its not a bad idea, I was thinking stereo but for what you can get the 5´s for these days, 4 in surround would be cool. We are moving into a new build so ill see the actual living room some time in the summer. Will make a decision then
If its any consolation and I have mentioned this on the forum before, when I bought my 20s which were an upgrade from 9s, I bought a connection hub and every time I triggered spotify or a samsung tv app I got a massive static kickback noice. It was really loud!
Anyway, took it back to the shop and they said it was a fault with my network, stood my ground, eventually headquarters confirmed it was a known fault. They offered a refund or said try the essence, went with essence (mk2) and it was much better but still did it a little a bit. After about a year and several updates it did not do it at all.
It was a really annoying experience and kind of soured the upgrade from the 9´s for a while. I think in general that´s just how B&O role, there´s almost too much tech in their speakers for them to reasonably handle with current resources. They do seem to fix it eventually but sometime they just issue end of life.....I definitely understand people who prefer to stick with the older products.
Good luck with 50´s! Look forward to the next podcast!
@ Ammier
Was that the s8 connection hub? if so that's very unfortunate, because I was thinking in the back of my head that you could always get one of those, if your tv doesn't have a surround processor, and have 4x bl5 just in stereo. that still would've been an awesome setup :p
Your experience sounds very similar to mine unfortunately as in ''it's the customers fault until we find out it's our fault all along''. I don't remember it ever being like this before and I don't think it's a good long term strategy.
I still don't understand the idea of making and selling products that they themselves don't fully understand. They must know themselves what their resources are, so that is a real head scratcher to me. I don't mind that they improve existing products, I don't even mind helping them in the process, but if I am basically a beta tester at this point I don't feel it's fair to pay full price.
We'll have a good show again on Sunday (7pm Amsterdam time :p), if you or anybody else has any more questions and or ideas feel free to let us know! Thanks for watching :D
Hi,
i was given advice that with a Beosystem 3, a beosound 5/beomaster5 and a beocentre 2 in the main room, with other link rooms, I should set the options as BS3 opt 2, BS5/BM5 opt 5, BC2 opt 0.
That didn’t work as I wasn’t getting sound out of the BS5/BM5 and repeat keypresses on the IR - I suspect that it was misunderstood that all three units were in the main room. setting BS5/BM5 to opt 1 works, but no sound is sent. I suspect the options are right, but is it possibly because I need to join a couple of ML connections or something? I think I’m nearly there, but it is puzzling why I’m getting no sound out from the BS5/BM5 in either the link rooms or main room - though the sources are selected correctly and the BC2 is showing the metadata. The BC3 and BS3 are working fine...
Thanks - I'd appreciate that. BTW, the BC5BM5 works if the BC2 is not connected to ML. In both the main room and the link rooms.
