Also noticed that according to an e-mail I just received, the 2.4GHz BeoCom1 (and 2) are being discontinued... of course, they haven't lowered the price
I would be more worried about the puppy chewing on the batteries....
Isn't that a Beocom 6000 BTW? Or is that a matter of different model names between EU and US?
Too long to list....

Looks exactly like my Beocom 6000, and if only the battery got chewed upon, nothing is lost
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
BeoCom 1 in the US seems to be the same as the BeoCom 6000 in the rest of the world.
Yes, my initial concerns were with the chewed battery, but only the outer wrapping was damaged - luckily, the inner cells were not comprised, and most of the plastic wrapping is still there.
"Mr houdini" (a 9 mo old Golden Retriever) escaped from his crate while we were out. I still haven't located the battery cover so that could be bad, but so far he seems quite healthy. He was kind of wired last night because he drank a good bit of my wife's coffee.

If you take a closer look at the photo, you can see that the phone is toast - the lcd panel is cracked, etc. So... Are the numbers stored in the phone or the base?
Stored in the base, I have 1 base, 2 chargers and 3 Beocom 6000 US, 1 Beocom bad, (all for sale) but if you stored a number in one phone it shows in the others too, so its all in the base
If the Beocom 1 is the same (or very similar) to the Beocom 6000 in its software and settings then there are two ways to set up a handset.
My Becom 6000 handset can be either Personal or common. If it is "personal" the stored numbers are in the handset and only available to that handset. If it is "common" the numbers are stored in the base and availble to all other "common" handsets.
That is for my MkI, I'm not sure if the MkII is the same.
I hope that is some help.

For your info from this site:-
BeoCom 1 - introduced October 2003 for the North American market - follows the classic BeoCom 6000 line and was launched in October 2003. The phone represents the best features that a DECT telephone can offer. With its GAP capabilities up to eight handsets can share the one base; the phone may easily be used to create a complete telephone and intercom system around the home or small office. Like BeoCom 6000, BeoCom 1 is available with both a table top charger as well as a wall- mounted version.
The phonebook and all other info is stored in the base and the handsets so any new handset will easily pickup all the information when it is registered to the BeoLine base. We are stocked up on handsets in anticipation of their retirement.
As for the naming issues, the BeoCom MKI was also called BeoCom 6000 in the US. What Europe calls the BeoCom 6000 MKII is called BeoCom 1 in the US and Canada.
We kid because we love.
Thanks to all. Got my my new phone today, registered it with the base and all the phone number re-appeared. Whew...
Not that I can't reproduce the numbers, it would just take a while vs. spin the wheel.
It's is days like today that I can really appreciate the awesome products that B&O (usually) builds - ~8 years of phone numbers instantly transferred to my new phone... vs. the following:
(beware Apple lovers) My wife just got a iPhone 4GS... upgrading from her "ancient" 3G (maybe 3 yrs old). Tried to sync the 4G with iTunes, except my version of iTunes (9.3) doesn't support the 4GS, and my OS (10.4.11) does not support any newer versions of iTunes... OK, I'll use this ATT app to transfer content between phone without iTunes... WRONG! It requires the 3G to be upgraded, after which my version of iTunes will no longer work with it ... unless I upgrade to Snow Leopard, and then upgrade iTunes, and then upgrade the obsolete 3G. My macbook pro that can't talk to the 4GS is just over 4 yrs old (which isn't that old (I'm told), but, then again, the DVD burner is broken for the 2nd time - which i found out when I tried to backup my iTunes library to disk so I could transfer it to a newer computer). Spent a good 8 - 9 hrs yesterday getting this sorted out (used my daughter's newer computer to upgrade the 3G (which then lost all "content" (except contacts)), then used the ATT app to send the contacts to the new phone, and ordered a snow leopard upgrade disk for the MBP so hopefully, we'll get her music and pictures and such into the new phone after this upgrade chain completes. Ugg... makes me appreciate B&O's glacial product evolution
Welcome to the club - the bad boy on my Avatar did exactly the same thing to my Beocom 6000.

I could really need some help here:
I have a Beocom 6000 -and have just bought another one (second hand). But I can not copy the phone numbers from the base to the "new" handset.I have registered it to the base (base 1) -but I cannot change the status in the handset from "personal" to "common". When I get into the menu and go to the point where I should be able to choose between "personal" and "common" and press "common" - it just says:
PERSONAL**NOT BASE 1**
-could somebody please help
