Hello,

I'm having problems to install my decoder to a Beovision Avant (type 8420). Stupid question, but how is it supposed to work? If I connect it to the scart for Decoder I can't get it to work, but if I connect it to the scart for AV it works.

I've downloaded the user guide, but I didn't get any wiser...

The decoder is a Triax (special for B&O) for the swedish Boxer-net.

Getting a bit rusty on the Avant having given mine to a relative.

I suspect from the type number that yours is the video tape version. You wil probably need to assign the decoder socket in the menus and then pick  the Triax box from the list of STB's. Dig around on the archived forum!

You could also try the service guide. The user guides tend to be writtten on the assumption that your dealer has already set everything up.

EDIT

And from recollection, some Avants did not have the IR blaster module and needed particular aerial configurations:

see the set-up guide in the service manual section.

Graham is right, assign the scart socket of your choice to the source of your choice in the menus and then press the source button on the remote. If you choose "Decoder" it will think it is a old analogue decoder, so to activate it you have to select decoder on an analogue tv-channel.

I guess the special B&O version can be remote controlled directly from datalink? If so, don't choose Sat og Decoder, but V.Aux or DVD, as the datalink signals is not sent down the scart in Sat or Decoder mode.

The V.Tape and AV scarts support RGB, which the Decoder scart does not, so if they're free I would recommend using them.

Also note that the second Decoder socket by the VCR is for VCR recording only

Hello and thanks for your answers!

Now I understand why I can't control the decoder when the scart for decoder is in use. When I shift to the scart for AV it works (just like Magnus explained).

The dvd-player is instead connected to the contacts on the top of the Avant because the scart for AV is used by the decoder, not an ultimate solution but it works...

There's a scart for v-tape but it has a small piece of metal in front of it so it can not be used; what is the intented use for this scart?
