I've just bought a new MacBook Pro and wanting to run Windows so that I can use the Beo5/6 software. What platform would you recommend? Parallels or VM Ware?
Thanks.
Beosound 8, Beotime, Beocom 4, Beo 5, Lutron Rania, MacBook 15" (Mid 2015), iPad Pro, iPhone 6S, B&O Play H3, Beolit 12, Form 2, A8 Headphones, B&O Play A1, B&O Essence
I heard Parallels was the best but honestly, chris why Windows??? Surely that's like buying an Audi and sticking a Ford Focus badge on it?
I thoroughly agree Paul, only problem is that I like to program the Beo5 I have myself and the software will only run on Windows.
It's the same in radio with playout systems Chris! Hey nice choice with the MacBook Pro! World's best computer there!!! Bet it looks great next to the BS8!!! Classy!
Where is mupdate website?
What do you think to the iPad, I use mine all the time but sadly cannot use it for everything.
Congratulations and I hope you will be happy with your mac! I would suggest that you download and install the program called VirtualBox. It is a virtualization software just like Parallels and VMWare but it is completely free!It is made by Sun (now oracle) and is very fast and reliable. It doesnt have all the features from Parallels or VMWare but I love it. Those times I have to run the creepy operating system from Microsoft :P
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

I have just been to the website to try this. Which download link do I need? Seems a little confusing!
My experience says it's not worth it. The time loading windows is a pain and if you keep both running, it'll be like a cancer on the processor. Your best bet is to spend a few hundred quid buying a cheap PC tower, stick it in the cubboard with a wireless card, then get a remote desktop system running so that you can launch an app on your macbook and voila you're looking at the desktop of the PC running on its dedicated system.

Thats far from my experience, Windows runs super fast on Virtualbox on the mac. Probably better than on most Windows PCs.. I have no problems at all with it. And it can pause when not used so when the program is launched. Windows just continues where it left of. zero boot time.

Hi Chris,
Apologies for the delay in responding. The offer i was referring to was http://www.mupromo.com/ but i think it has just expired. They have Parallels bundles quite often
The iPad is good. I sold my iPad 1 at EB Games and have purchased an iPad 3 (aka New iPad) - i'm hoping that it will become my computer replacement (trailing). I use the mac bluetooth kb with it. Will see how I go.
you don't need Paralles or VMWare. You can use Apples Bootcamp to install a full Windows on your Mac. You just boot into your operating system of choice.by the way:After a few years with Macs I can tell you that Macs are NOT the best computers and they crash like PCs, too, if you're working with them = doing more than listening to compressed MP3s on iTunes or surf the web. ;-)
Having to reboot just to run one windows piece of software might be considered a pain..
I currently only use VMWare/Mac/Windows 7 and never had any problems with it.
The free virtualbox software can be downloaded from:
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.1.18/VirtualBox-4.1.18-78361-OSX.dmg
I have used it previously on my Macbook without any problems, still use it on Linux.
BeoVision 7-40, BeoLab 9/10/6000, BeoCom 6000, Beo4, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound 2/6,
I disagree TWG, they ARE definitely the best. Ive had my currently MacBook for just over two years now, it is in use for AT LEAST 8 maybe 12 hours a day maybe even more and it's crashing what, twice in 26 months! It's incredible!
Paul, it's my personal experience after a few years of using Macs. They crash like other computers, too.And believe me, it is NOT funny when the Apple software closes without any warning after e.g. 30min of the last saving while editing a video. ;)In my opinion: Computers are Computers, no matter which OS, which manufacturer etc. There's nothing that works 100% on this planet and I have to live with that. :)
