A BeoSystem 4 is the product I most desire from B&O these days (I actually want 2). At this point, I cannot justify the purchase of a BeoSystem 3 (too expensive, too outdated, and ML based without the capability of adding the impending ML replacement).
I like the specs you proposed for your dream BeoSystem 4. However, I can live without the internal hard disk for recording video and would be happy with 6-8 HDMI in. That said, aside from updated video and audio processing, there are few more specs that I desire.
What I really want are digital outs for the BL5 (I was shocked when these were not included in the BeoSystem 3) and a digital in for the Beosound 9000. Also, I would like it if the BeoSystem 4 was future-proofed by taking 4k TV into consideration (if that’s even possible). In addition, I like the trend (in the Beoplay products) of the devices being user upgradable (for software), I would like this trend to continue for the Beosystem 4. Also, it would be nice if the BeoSystem 4 had basic IR learning capabilities for devices like projectors. Lastly, I would not mind if the BeoSystem 4 included things like Airplay and Apps. However, I am equally happy (and possibly prefer) using an external device such as an Apple TV for such functions.
Raeuber:Hi all, here the specs of my dream of a new Beosystem 4: - 10 HDMI IN - 2 HDMI OUT for projectors - 3 HDMI OUT for distribution of video (HD) and audio (all digital formats) to link rooms (BeoNet) - internal hard disk for recording all video and audio sources - 3 USB (3.0) connections for external hard drives and USB-sticks - Powerlink-sockets for 7 Beolabs and 2 Subwoofers - WLAN with UPnP-Server Hope it will come soon (before 2050)! Wouldn't it be nice? Regards Räuber
What the heck are you going to do with 10 HDMI inputs!!!!!
1. BluRay player
2. Apple TV2
3.Boxee
4.Tvix
5.Digital box
6.PS3
7.computer
8.Western digital TV live
9.New Apple STB
10.Android to TV
You are gonna have a serious amount of boxes to hide etc...
By 2050 HDMI will be gone anyways
lol
While all these features are nice and there should be a product from B&O that offers this, I also think that most people are only using a fraction of BS3's capabilities. I need a simple Surround unit produces high quality sound and supports 5.1 speakers. I don't need video processing - I have quality video sources.
But likely B&O will do the same as they did with BS3 - price it out of the market without offering superior features. This is pretty evident when comparing a TV with a built-in BS3 vs a stand alone BS3 or comparing a standalone BS3 with some of the newer BVs that appears to have newer surround technology than what BS3 offers.
Dear Räuber,
how many " WLAN toys for new customers" do you think Tue will have to sell, before he/B&O can afford to develop, to produce and to distribute such a monster-BS.
We don't even know if there is a market for a/for your BS4 anymore?
The engine used in the V1 and in the BV11 with a second HDMI-out would be perfect for a new version of the BV7/BV12 - or as standalone.
It has plenty of power for software-updates for the next couple of years - I am sure.
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Well said! I would still like to see the V1 surround engine as a stand alone product, so the display and then surround unit can be upgraded separately. As the V1 TV is under $3,500 the surround unit should be a fraction of this..
