Hello

Had a search but can't seem to find anything on this so far so trying a post.  Has anyone out there got a Sonos system setup in their house and how would you say the sound quality compares to B&O speakers?

I'm less interested in the pros an cons of the integration / streaming etc as there seems to be plenty of discussion on this and I personally I think it just gets a bit academic and depends a lot on personal preferences in how you are going to use it.  What I'm interested in is how it sounds.

Reason is we're buying a second home (well more a wreck that we have to rebuild) and trying to decide whether I stay faithful to what I'm used to and wire up a B&O setup or opt for an easier to setup and more flexible to change in future wireless approach.

Thanks, Chris.

Hi Chris, i have both a B&O and a Sonos system - the latter I bought mostly so my gym and nursery could have music independent to the rest of the house.

I have to say based on sound quality alone there is genuinely no comparison. I recently swapped a B&O passive amplifier running a single stereo speaker in my bathroom for the Sonos Connect:Amp and I assumed I would hear no difference but actually I found out just how great the sound had been from my B&O amplifier - the Sonos was lifeless in comparison and completely lacked bass.

Another recent example was that I bought a BeoLit 12 for my kitchen - it sounded fantastic in there and I was delighted but whenever I streamed to it from my Spotify account it would stop the Sonos in the other rooms playing (and vice versa) as Spotify can tell that you are trying to play to two different systems at a time which is not allowed. So i moved the BeoLit and put a Sonos Play:5 in the kitchen and once again that just highlighted how amazing the BeoLit sounded as the Play:5 was lifeless in comparison. In saying that, I have been to peoples houses that use Sonos and thought it sounded perfectly OK - its only when you can compare it directly to B&O that you notice a huge difference in sound quality.

I love Sonos for its functionality and have no plans to get rid of it, but I will mostly be using the Connect via its digital output into Bang & Olufsen products.
