I love my 4004, but recently the 45s kind of slow down and speed up while playing...not very noticeable to the regular ear, but it bugs me to no end....

im assuming there to be different belts inside to play 33 and 45 and maybe the 45 is older/damaged?

ideas anyone???   thank

Welcome to Beoworld !

There's only one belt for the platter. The motor speed is changed when switching between 33 and 45.
The belt could be slipping but that would almost certainly affect 33rpm as well.
The symtoms you describe are those of motor bearings in need of cleaning and relubricating.
A speed switching relay and a trimming resistor could also be in need of attention.

Well, John,

I don't know your skills so obviousoly, I cannot tell if you can do this yourself.
But take a look at it and stop when/if you no longer feel safe.

Martin
