Hello,i am newbie

I would like to connect my new beolab5 with a preamp ( Linn) to listen SACD ( for example)

Today my beolab5 is connected by powerlink  to beosystem 3 included in my beovision 7_40

I would like to know if this procedure is correct:

             1  for analogique ( LINE)

from my preamp for example

rca left  -------> line beolab 5 left

do i have to connect with "syncr" between the beolab 5

what option if i have to stay also with beovison 7 ?Unsure

       2  for  digital

   from my preamp

digital out ---------> digital IN beolab 5LEFT

and then digital OUT beolab 5 LEFT -------------> digital IN beolab RIGHT

thanks for your adviceSmile

Hi Andriani

I had made the same experience with the Beolab 5. The major problem they have is the digital inputs opens only if the command “CD “ is comming through the Powerlink connection. I use my Beolab 5 in Option 4 and feed them most from my macmini where all my lossless sound is stored. I have several digital players, so i use a Cambridge DacMagic Plus as “digital hub”.

You have 2 options – here Option 1:

-       Connecting the Beolabs with Powerlink, and the digitalcables direct to your LINN CD-Player

-       You have to put in a CD in your DVD (BV7-40) that the Beolabs open the SPDIF Input.

-       Cons: You have the workaround with having a CD in the DVD drive...

Option 2:

-       Connecting the Beolab 5  with RCA cables to your TV (Beosystem 3)

-       The digitalcables direct to your LINN CD-Player

-       Set the Beolab’s to Option 1 or 4 (if you don’t have a Radio in your Setup, Option 1 works)

-       Cons: You have to control the Volume from your speakers independent from your TV setup

Hope this helps.

Regards

Carlo

thanks carlo

i have try this way and it works in "analogic"

1 I connect my LINN AKURATE DS ( stremaing music) to my preamp LINN KISTO in RCA

2 I connect  each beolab 5 ( LINE) to the OUTPUT of my preamp by RCA

                           3 I can choose

OPTION 1  on beo4 ( RADIO) -> i see the volume on my beovision 7 and can control IT

OPTION 4 on beo4 ( LINK and then RADIO, you can read how to in the manual) -> i can control the volume by preamp

I have tried in DIGITAL( all the connection befor in digital, digital output from my PREAMP LINN) but i HAVE JUST in BEOLAB 5 a " rose noise", but in reading your message i haven't do CD in my BEO 4

I shall try it

But i can say that in "analogic" the depth of the music is deep : i think the union of LINN/BEOLAB 5 is very very beautiful ( five stars)

I listen the same music with beosound 5/BEOLAB 5 but it lacks of aerial depth transparency ( fours stars)

I would like to compare in digital way , i am not sure it will be best

i shall try to connect DIRECTLY as you said in your message : the PREAMP LINN (RCA)----> BEOLAB 5 ( POWERLINK), THe beolab 5 have TWO powerlink, if i let my BEOVISION 7 on the powerlink 1 can i used in the same time the powerlink 2 for the preamp LINN

THANKS Smile

good to listen musicBig Smile
