Hi to all
Today i have just fulfilled one lifes ambitions by becoming the proud owner of a very nice beolab 8000 system complete, beomaster 8000 , beocord 8002, beogram 8002 all boxed like new and in full working order the system also come with sc-80 cabinet and remote etc. To top it all off i also picked up a pair of ms150 speakers in same finish in very good condition.
marc
That certainly looks like Christmas!

Congratulations Marc, just beautiful and in boxes, speakers that fit the system, I wish you many years of joy with it.
In the excitement you called it Beolab system, I can understand that, its like Xmas when we were children, only better
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Well done!
A real high water mark for B&O in my opinion, and probably the best system they ever produced when all up and running.
The MS150s are hard to find - where did you come across them?
Thanks for all of your replies, can't wait to get it all set up,
The MS150s has been an on going deal from a person in London i was trying to make for last 4 months ago but he would not sell and then out of the blue i had a text saying for sale if you still want them and if that was not enough the 8000 system come up here on beoworld and it was job done. This has filled a big hole in my collection, i now just need to complete my beolab 5000 system and i'm done.

The 8000 system was known as the Beolab 8000 system rather than the Beosystem 8000. This nomenclature was kept for reference standard systems, which the 8000 system certainly was. Lovely system - I sometimes regret not having mine anymore until I see that I don't have space even without it!!
Peter
Welcome to the 8000 bandwagon! You will love it for many years to come, as I do with mine. Those MS150's are monstrous when only living on 16 square meters, but worth it!
Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.
M100s are actually a little wider, though not quite as tall! Ashamed to admit it but I am steadily listening to less and less music! Hearing getting worse these days so maybe I don't enjoy it as much. I do still go to live concerts though!

I stand corrected, sorry Marc
Boxes was a big bonus as it was not mentioned in the seller's ad, and on collecting items i was told the history of system in that it had been owned from new and was set up in there house the past 30 years or so, a very nice older couple who were sad it see it go one of which is a beoworld member, thats how i come across the system.
For years I banged on about how the 8000 was the best system ever, and was always met with the 4400 and the Beolab 5000 are better etc. blah blah. Now everyone agrees that I was right all that time and the 8000 is the best ever. What happened?
FWIW I've had so many Beomasters come and go but the only one I have hung onto is the 8000 and I have never ever considered flipping it for something else. So long as you have room it's the coolest thing B&O ever made bar none. Seen here with a slice of 70s LED action the Omega Digital 1:
Not completely sure that is what we are saying but I do agree that the 8000 is a very beautiful system - and also a splendid sounding one. I still maintain that the 4400 is nicer to listen to and that earlier systems are better made, but I cannot believe that anyone would ever be disappointed with an 8000 system. Their partners could well leave them , mind you!
Hope you are enjoying your final year. The clinical years were my favourite by miles and I loved being a house officer. Don't remember listening to much music though!! I was at the time when we did a one in two on call going to one in one when your colleague was on holiday! I lived in the hospital - the RVI where they shot the first series of Junior Doctors a year or two ago. Completely different and looks far more like hard work!
I've noticed the love factor for the 8000 increasing from where it was a couple of years ago, when it was just you and I of the regular UK posters who had one of these. Now there seem to be a handful dotted around.
I was struck when I sold my 6000 Quad system that I had a couple of messages out of the blue from Beoworld lurkers that I didn't know asking me if the 8000 was next for the chop! Their enquiries were politely declined :)
Final year is just starting Peter. Am looking forward to getting finished now, but the shift patterns seem more friendly than in the days when you qualified. I am currently on a GP rotation and liking that very much more than I expected to - no GP B&O or Triumph fans in my practice though!
The shift pattern is better but I think we had it easier - present day junior doctors seem to work much harder and seem much cleverer than when I was a houseman!
GP land is a bit full of doom and gloom at present as our pensions are eroded and our pay cut. This was never why I did it but I do feel sorry for younger partners who do seem to be getting it in the neck a bit at present.
On the Triumph side, I have started replacing the trunnions in the front suspension with Caterham front uprights - done one side so far!
I Hope i'm doing the right thing i'm having to sell my beomaster 4400 to help pay for the 8000 system, never intended to sell this its just the 8000 system came round so soon that i had to make a choice. Its on ebay uk now
Looks great Marc, and with the preselect cover
Brengen & Ophalen
Still got its price tag on power cable

I JUST SOLD MY BEOMASTER 4400 FOR £785 WITH EBAY, i know it was as new condition with box but never knew it would fetch that kind of price.
Also did anyone see another complete 8000 system with cabinet and ms150 speakers go for £353 on ebay.com

Well done! I doubt that price will ever be bettered. The 4400 is a fine amp but not that hard to come by. F.e. I sold a 6000 Quad for £740ish 18 months ago, and I doubt a serviceable one with remote has come up again in that time.
I thought your BIN price was £700, BTW?

Still have not had time to set up 8000 system still all packed, but going off what i just sold its was the box that brought the money in.
Someone had a great deal in the USA buying the complete 8000 system for £353 including ms150s and sc80 cabinet.

You can now afford to mail him with a better offer !
Great price for 4400.
Is it because 8000 system is US 110v voltage that it went so cheap.
Nice looking system, Marc and welcome to the Beolab 8000 system owners' club!
Did the MS150 stands arrive OK?
Edit: Just seen that they did - excellent!
Here's the pic of 8000 setup
Sounds like a service is required Marc. Every time I see one of these sets come for sale, the owner posts about how it all works 100% perfectly, which is invariably complete tosh. A complex 30+ year-old piece of equipment like this is always going to fail at this age. When I got my 8002 it was doing something similar to yours, and I've lost count now of the number of times my 8004 has been in for one thing or another sorting. You'd be wise to have the whole system serviced, and then I'm sure you'll be surprised with the difference in performance and sound quality.
I am very envious of those speakers, BTW.
Thanks for the info, i got to say that it sounds amazing now and in faultless cosmetic condition i just need a point in the right direction whether i have set-up the turntable correct and would it be something to do with electric cables close to beocord connect cable making humming sound.

Marc - the 8002 turntable is idiot proof. It either works or it doesn't. In your case it doesn't, so a service is probably required regardless of the cosmetic condition if the tonearm isn't dropping on to the record.
Check you are using the correct DIN leads - the one for the record player is different. The Beogram 8002 is a complex device and suffers from component failure. The arm descent on this one is different to the earlier 4000 series and is electronic. Does the gram click when it gets over the record? The solenoid if malfunctioning usually fails in the up position.
It is an earth problem but it shouldn't be! The Beocord is, as far as I am aware, double earthed in common with almost all B&O. You can however still earth the Beocord and this should fix the hum. However this might not be the end of the problem!
On the Beogram, have you set the tracking weight? If set to zero, the arm will float.
