Any ideas? I am wanting to control some simple twig lights, socket is hid behind a bookcase.

I can buy one on ebay for around £10 but will not work with Beo5 unless a XML file can be created by someone much more clever than myself.

Thanks.

First off, you are unlikely to find many IR controlled plugs/sockets. Most home automation is RF.

If the one you found on eBay is definitely IR, you will need to see if it can work with B&O IR as it is not the standard IR. The majority of IR remotes operate in the 30-56KHz range, normally 38-40KHz,  Bang & Olufsen use a 455KHz frequency. This doesn't mean you can't use a Beo5 with an IR socket.

You don't say if you have the configuration tool for your Beo5, and whether or not you are able to use it. If you have used it, there is no need to get bogged down with XML files. There are a number of non B&O products already in the configuration tool (I just looked and saw PS2 codes which will likely work). You just need to add a button and code it from the PS2 codes (or similar)

If you think the eBay item you saw was IR (or you may prefer to use something like this.) and you want pointers using the configuration tool let us know.

Stoobie,

I have just purchased 2 from Amazon. 1 to control the twig lights and 1 to control the lamp - both in same room. I have the config tool but will require some help in programming these and creating buttons! I'll let you know when they arrive - I think Amazon said a week.

Thanks, Chris

Here in Germany you can buy a very good IR->RF-converter from JBmedia called the Lightmanager Pro. They have a B&O compatible version as well which I use for about 2 years now:

They ship worldwide!

Yes, I have one of the B&O versions. They are excellent, (but a little bit expensive to switch just one plugWhistle). All my lighting is now automated using that and HomeEasy switches and wall plugs.

I am about to try to program it to control my Somfy blinds in my sun room.
