Hello forum members,

I am looking into buying the Beosound 5 Encore, but I am wondering whether it will work as I envision.

What I have today is a Beo4 remote (year old with the joystick), a Beovision 10 and a pair of Beolab 9.

To the BV10 is connected a

-       Humax 5200c (DTV button on the Beo4)

-       Panasonic Blueray player (DVD button on the Beo4)

-       Apple TV 3 (LIST A-PC or LIST P-PC on the Beo4)

I’m not so happy with the ATV3 as the main audio streamer.

I’m looking into the Beosound 5 Encore, to compleet my system with a network radio and network music control.

I was thinking on connecting the BS5E and the BV10 both to the Powerlink of the BL9 set.

Now I have 2 questions which I do not have the answers for so far.

1) Can I connect both the BS5E and BV10 via a Powerlink split cable to the BL9?

2) Can I control the BS5E and the BV10 separately with the same Beo4?

Best regards,

1: the only way to do this is with a PowerLink-Switch - from Almando or similar (Google....)

2: that is possible.

Greetings Millemissen

There is a tv - and there is a BV

You can also use the aux-in from the BV10 to connect your BS5e. Try the camera-input and select a button on your Beo-remote. The advantage of this method is that you can with the A-Camera button select your source and the screen of the television will not switch to on.

I have connected my BS5E to my BV8 (same internals as your BV10) via a Beolink converter (1611 is the one to get, I have a 1614 which also works) :

When I select a video source, the TV starts in 5.1 sound mode (its default video sound mode) and starts its screen.

When I select an audio source, the BS5E turns on, while the TV starts in 2.0 (its default audio sound mode) without turning on the screen.

Perfect!

Not exactly : as it's not possible to get a fixed line audio output from the BS5E (which is connected to the BL converter via the headphone output), when I control the volume via Beo4/6, it's controled 2 times, one by the Beovision, one by the BS5E.

If I could get a fixed audio output from a Powerlink connector, my setup would be almost perfect, like a masterlinked BS5E in the same room as the TV.

Millemissen,

Thanks.

I googled the switch. Thanks for the pointer.

For the Beo4 control of the BS5E and the BV10 separate, will they not both react to the commands. I can circumvent this by always switching the one off before starting the other?

Thanks. Because of this double volume control problem I was looking into a way to use the BS5E with the BL9's without turning the BV10 on, so the audio signal should not go to the BV10.

Hi,

Perhaps a little late, but there is an other solution how to connect your BL9- speakers to the Encore, without turning on your Beovision.

Have a look at this site: http://almando.com/multiplay/almando-multiplay-stereo.html

I've seen such a solution and it works perfect. Not cheap, but worth to consider.
