I recently purchased a defect Beomaster 6000.

I've been searching for a long time on the internet whats wrong and what the solution is.

The only thing it does is showing a 'p'.

Welcome to Beoworld !

Check the CPU reset circuit. There is a trimmer in that circuit that can oxidize and lose contact.
Check also for cracked solder joints at the row of connectors along the lower edge of
the processor board and on the board just below it at the bottom of the Beomaster.
Check power supplies for ripple and correct voltage.
Still no luck ? Replace the processor.

How wide is the processor, 5 cm?

That'll be its apprx. length, yes.
Don't get me wrong, but that question suggests that you will probably not be the one to get
this Beomaster working.
Servicing B&O is nothing like any other stereo and certainly not for electronics beginners.
And I mean this in the best possible way.

The problem you will have is what caused the processor to fail. Just replacing it may well do not good as it could simply fail again. The processor is fed with a voltage which is controlled by a collection of factors including variable resistors (trimmers). These can go out of specification when the get older and this may lead to unsuitable voltages for the processor. Thus one needs to investigate the cause of the failure before replacing parts.

If you feel able to do this, and have the correct equipment, most parts can be supplied by electrical facttor shops - in the UK Maplins is an example though there will be many other you can find on line. The 6000 is a complex beast though and I would pass the job to a professional! The service manual is available though and has the specifications in it for the components you will need.

You can't.
It's a masked programmed (custom) chip, out of production 20 years ago.
Only source is a donor Beomaster. But the processors rarely fail, really. It's almost always
something else as stated above.
