After 35 years my Beocord 2200 had enough. Everytime I try to play a tape it stops after 5 secondsFast forward and rewind, the same.. It looks like the tape is jammed but after trying with different tapes the problem continues.  It is something I can fix or is a more serious repair?

I know I can listen to the same music through my ipod but I like the ritual of choosing the tape and feeling the solid, mechanical touch of the Beocord buttons.

Regards

Sounds like you need new belts - and probably a service! These are quite possibly the most tunable of all the cassettes - I know Tim Jarman loves them!

My favorite of the BC's!

  • One B&o bottle opener
  • One fancy gun

Thanks for your explanations. I will try to check the belts.

Peter,

Did Tim ever find you a Rosewood one to go with the BM 4401?

Does anybody know how to remove the belt marked with a white arrow?

I've used a plain rubber band (only the middle belt was loose) and the Beocord works fine again.

By the way, does it make any difference with the 17 euros belt  sold on eBay? Probably will not last 35 years, but...

Thanks for your advice
