Dear All,

Firstly sorry for troubling you guys, I have recently purchased a few new pieces of kit and am having difficulty connecting them together in the best logical way possible.

Firstly as I understand it the BEOVISION 5 HD has one dvi socket-  to accomodate for an HD source- hence I would have to alternate between the Humax HD Freesat Freetime box and the Playstation 3...which is fine I dont mind.{didnt know if there was some other clever way around this which would enable having them both connected at the same time or not}.

My problem is that ideally I want the DVD 1 to be activated by pressing the DVD button on my Beo4.

Followed by using the DTV button for the HD source(be it the Humax HD box or Playstation 3).

This leaves the Beomedia 1 which - I dont know whats the best button then to use for that (???) or the best way to connect that to this particular set-up.

My main problem lies with the allocation of sources to connections, this is really confusing me- also does this mean I may need to add more `buttons' to my Beo 4?

Please, would appreciate any help....

Many Thanks

Hi Bangtastic, Welcome.

The BV5 HD has a mkIV chassis.

This chassis has a VGA input in the middle on the back. Connect the BM1 via VGA and with a ML cable. The BM1 will respond to the "PC" instruction.

I think/know you could use:

AV - for the DVD1 (supports RGB and also use the 2nd digital input for DD/DTS)

Vtape set to STB-DTV or STB-Sat for the Humax. This will keep the overlay menu intact. Connect the Humax through a scartcable (will be SD format also RGB)

Use the DVI for the playstation 3. Connect via DVI and digital audio and analog audio on the Camcorder input (spdif+ analog L-R)

You can control the PS3 with the STB-C if you're having table 4.25 or 4.28 and a Nyko USB dongle for the PS3.

You can swap the PS3 with the Humax. This will give you HD from the Humax but without menu overlay (STB controller) and you'll have to connect the ps3 via the composite video input on the Decoder or Camcorder. Both will result in low quality video resolutions (SD). The PS3 has also component, but the BV5 can't handle that.

The most ideal situation: Buy another component (or DVI) videoboard/module from panasonic and use the free 3rd slot under the panel. But this takes some modifications internally.

Thanks for your Feedback.

Did you get a DVI board for the TV or how did you end up connecting?
