There is now new MLGW software available (2.00k) which enables N.Music browsing on Beomaster 5. Work pretty good according to me. If we only could get Spotify browsing/search also...

Thanks for the news. Now I have pretty much to play tonight....:))

For Spotify I`m searching on Spotify ipad app and add the music I want to listen to to playlists. On my BS5 I just start the playlist.

It is already automatically synchronized - works great.

Since BM5/BS5 already IS connected to the network, I wonder why a MLGW is needed at all to Control.....BM5/BS5.

Hoping for a NL-update for the BM/BS5 - would that be too much to ask for?

Controlling ALL with the BeoRemote-app would be nice Whistle

Spotify in one room, N.RADIO in another and N.MUSIC in a third...WhistleWhistle

....while watching tv in the main room Geeked

The search function for N.Music works greate, I would  be more than happy if the same was implemented for Spotify. Yes it's a lot of money, but the MLGW is really great if you have a home automation system.

Hi lano,

could you post a (or more) screenshot(s) from your iPad?

To show how it looks.

You can also download the app and run it in demo mode. You can then get a feeling for how it works, the search function works the same when running "for real".

Hi lano,

GREAT - Thanks a lot - tack så mycket!

And thanks for pointing at the new 'demo mode' of the app.

I already had the app - but did not realise that the improved 'demo mode' already tells us most of what we need to know.

I hadn't opened it for a while.

This is a big jump ahead regarding 'modern interface' for the BeoMASTER 5 as well.

I wonder if one in this case needs the BeoSOUND 5 for managing the BeoMASTER 5?

P.S. Can you maximize the cover of the actual played track/the logos of the N.Radio-stations in the app?

And....Spotify? Can you manage Spotify in the app as well?

I  would agree that MLGW is definitely an over-priced solution to just provide access via a home wireless network. Especially since the BeoSound 5 is already connected to the network. The original purpose of MLGW was for home automation. B&O definitely needs a more affordable solution to just connect the MasterLink system to own's home network.

Thanks for your screenshot Smile

The "affordable solution" is exactly what NL is going to be (with the BeoRemote-app).....I suppose Huh?

But it also leaves the 'old' products out. They will of cource function due to the ML/NL-converter - but not with the same interface (iOS-app) as the 'new' (and 'coming') NL-products.

We need some kind of MLGW-Lite, for that to be possible with 'old' ML-products.

A MLGW as it is today - I agree - is far to expensive for Audi/Video-only.

----

And how about the poor guy who wants to upgrade his ML-tv to a BV11?

Probably he will need the ML/NL-converter aswell....and will that work seemlessly with the MLGW he already has?

----

Imagine somebody coming into a Bang & Olufsen shop willing to buy a BV11-55 and a BM/BS5 (and loudspeakers)...

He ask the dealer: "can I control my stuff with an iPad-app - like I have seen by XX-product (Loewe as an example)?"

Sure says the dealer: "You will have to buy a MLGW for xxxmoney and a ML/NL-converter for xxmoney too, but the app is free!"

I would feel ashamed, if I was that dealer with a potential buyer in the shop Embarrassed

Thanks for the info.:)

Do you know, where I can find the logos (picons)?

And where did you get the light buttons with light icons from? Looks great!

Tak

hi stefan,
1. must use an iPad or ihpone
2. go to language / keyboard and register language“ Emoji“  (look at picture one)
3. click on lower right small planet until you change keyboard language to Emoji LOGO (look at picture to)
hope that helps

I am slightly confused about all this ML and NL information.  I thought ML was going into the dust bin of history.  I am thinking about buy a  Beovision 11 but have a Beocenter 2 and a Beosound 5 and don't like the idea of getting an NL adapter for $900.  I feel like owners of recent ML based products are being left with a lot of incompatibility issues or at least not enough information about near future plans.

I would buy the MLGW to start on my home automation system but am not sure there is a future for it.

Thanks lano for the MLGW update information.

Hi linder - nice dog Smile

that is exactly the point!

The MLGW was the possibility to integrate a ML-based setup with components that are network-based. Bang & Olufsen created this splendid piece of hardware/software because many costumers wanted an overall homeinstallation with lightcontrol and so on....

The iPhone made it possible to have a new and better interface (BeoLink-app) than a Beo4 can be. And the iPad made it even better!

With NL-technology is is now possible to do these things with the A/V-part much easier (without a gateway).

The BeoRemote-app is the interface for that!

Soon the MLGW in its current form will be outdated. If you at the moment do not plan any homeautomation, It would be madness to buy a MLGW - when you already have a NL-product - just to control that and the 'old' ML-based products at home.

I have written it several times: I expect the BeoRemote-app to be the main Remote for a future NL-setup - assisted still by a Beo4.

Hi,  Thanks for the information.  I can wait because I am moving to a new condo later this year.  Does the NL converter transmit the audio information from the Beocenter 2 onto the network through a routed subnet and is therefore completely digital?  I guess if I was playing a CD, that wouldn't be a problem but I have a Beogram 7000 attached through the AUX port.  Wouldn't the analog sound from the turntable be degraded?  I really don't want to get rid of the Beogram even though I don't use it that much.

The NL-protocol is full digital.

All analog sound will - in the ML/NL-converter be converted to digital before it is transportet to the NL-devices (at the moment only the BV11or the V1).

All ML-sound is analog - even if originates from a CD. And of cource the sound from the BeoGram 7000 is analog.

How good the sound is after the convertion, depends on the quality of the DAC inside the ML/NL-converter.

You can be sure that Bang & Olufsen uses a high quality DAC, and the sound will not be degraded.

And....this is the only way to let 'both worlds' meet in a setup that is as easy to control as we are used to (and demands) as B&O-users!
