When the CD player is selected on my BeoCenter 9000 the RECORD lamp illuminates. Is this normal?
The manual specifies how to record and how to stop recording, but says nothing about the RECORD lamp being on.

On my BC9500 the record lamp is on whenever there is a recordable cassette in the compartment - in case you want to select this function.
Thank you Guy.
Can anyone else confirm that the RECORD light only indicates that recording is available not that it is going to do so?
I am concerned that when playing a CD it might record on my cassette tape without my wish to do so.
I am more familiar with the recording feature of the Beocord 8004 and 9000 where you have to select record, check the levels than press record again.
Since only available functions are lit, what would you press if you wanted to record a CD?
The safeguard is that having pressed record once, the system goes into record/pause mode, you will need to press record again to actually record on the tape!!
I am sure that the user manual can be found somewhere in our database!

Hi Graham,
I have now the User Manual and as I mentioned it explains how to record and how to stop recording. What was not mentioned was the RECORD light illuminating.
Manual in hand I am still experimenting with the program functions of my 9000 and I merely trying to make sure I didn’t accidentally set the 9000 up to record on one of my “precious” cassettes by mistake. That’s all.

Remove the protect tabs from any "precious" cassettes. Problem solved

//Bo.A long list...
Perhaps I used the term “precious” by mistake; treasured would have been a better choice, however removing the tabs is an excellent idea. (That was done ages ago….)
