Dear All,

I have a good working Beogram 3000 (looking same as 1200) turntable equiped with SP14A stylus, that I ned to connect my mai amplifier that has no phono input.

Using my preamplifier Project Phono Box MM, I could just hear sound from my speakers. I suppose this happens due to low mV output of the cartridge.

Just looking specs of the cartridge, I can not decide is an MC preamplifier is suitable or if its input will be overloaded.

Could you suggest?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help

Your Beogram should work just fine with the MM preamplifier. How is your setup wired?

Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.

The MMC cartridges are Moving Iron which is a type of Moving Magnet. They do have a lower than average output but this is no worse than the Ortofon range which use a similar principle. Your pre-amp should be fine - does it have any controls on it?

The previous technician involved with this, had cut the DIN connector and added RCA connectors. He did not used at all the shielding as a 5th line. Could this be the reason sound is almost like whispers?
