Hi Everyone,

My B&O TV recently broke down so I've replaced it with a Samung Smart TV. The B&O DVD player still works fine so I'm now trying to connect it to the Samung TV. I've tried with both a Scart cable and a HDMI cable, and whilst the DVD player does connect, I'm completely unable to control it with the remote control (Beo4). Basically, I have to open the DVD tray to get the DVD player to "wake up". On the TV screen, I then see the TV channel coming through the DVD player and the "Date and Time" set-up screen. When I try to fill in the date and time nothing happens. It's not down to the remote control batteries as the menu on the Beo4 screen still works, and I've also tried new batteries just in case....still had the same problem. If I put a DVD into the player, this all works fine, except that the set-up screen is still covering the whole picture. What am I doing wrong??

I also tried the IR Extender that came with the Samsung TV but am also unable to control the DVD player with the TV remote.

As the B&O dvd player does not have it's own ir receiver built in, it gets all it's remote commands via the B&O TV. If there is no B&O TV connected to it, it CANNOT BE CONTROLLED BY YOUR BEO4 Remote.

Hi

The DVD 1 has no iR eye built in and therefore relies on the IR eye in a connected B&O television.

Since you now have a Samsung television I am afraid that you will have no luck trying to control it since you are missing the B&O IR eye that was in your former television.

Ah, I had wondered if this was the case, but the friend I originally got the whole B&O system from said this was wrong. Well at least I know it's not just me now, thanks a lot!
