Beocenter 3500 damaged in transit!! - How do I get it apart?

Greetings and felicitations from a Land Downunder

Recently I managed to purchase an immaculate Beocenter 3500. Unfortunately the poor thing did not survive the ministrations of hamfisted couriers, despite being very well packed, on its journey from Melbourne to Brisbane.

When it arrived I found the lift dial broken and a small loose ball bearing floating about. I have managed to download the service manual and think the bearing is from part of the mechanism operated by the lift dial.

My problem is that despite having the service manual I cannot work out how to remove the turntable from the unit!! Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

At the rear is a thin black metal rail that will have to be removed.
Then the grill cover (with the thousand square holes) - if present.
Then two screws from below, still at the rear.
The top part with the turntable then lifts up at the rear and pulls backwards and away.
Note the DIN plug to the Phono socket and the power leads to the motor inside the Beocenter will have
to be disconnected to remove the top completely.

Good information, Martin.  I will be receiving one of these shortly.  Is a cap kit available?  Same as BM3000?

Sorry to hear your tale of woe Mike. 
I recently got a pair of S45-2 shipped from Sydney to Melbourne and the courier dropped the package and dislodged the woofer magnet and damaged the box on one of the speakers. Australian Couriers are useless! Good luck with your repair.

If was insured take it to a B&O service center if they do vintage (they do in Melbourne). 

Make the courier responsible for their rubbish service.  Make it their problem. 

I had a similar incident, the box looked like it had been thrown from a 100 meter rooftop. 

If it was packed well, it will be covered. 

I claimed $550 for repairs on a 9500. 

Good luck! 

Nothing more disappointing, especially when it is vintage gear in mint condition.

Hi people

many thanks for all the replies.

I have managed to get over my afflicition and opened up the Beocenter successfully.

Now I have to work out how to repair the damage. I wuill start another thread for this.
