Hey all,

I have some thoughts  regarding headunit. We are moving into a new house and the former owner has a Beosound 4 hanging on the wall in the livingroom, it looks great, as all B&O.

Since we are not using the dvd in the BC2 anymore I was thinking of trading it in for a BS4 as a headunit instead.

I like the design of the BC2 - it looks so cool, but is the BS4 better since it is newer?

Does anyone have feedback of the BS4 compared to the BC2? The BS4 is a newer product, the tech should i my world be "better"?

Is it a trade down?

Debatable! The BC2 is clearly higher in the B&O hierarchy but part of this, in most cases, is because of the DVD playback ability. However it does have a digital output which the BS4 lacks. The BS4 also has the SD card facility, though this is actually not as useful as I had thought it might be. The displays are the same. One could argue that a dedicated CD player should be better than a DVD/CD reader though I confess to finding no differences myself!

The BC2 is sometimes a bit slow to get going, but the CD loading on the BS4 is often criticised.

The question I would ask would be why get either? The future is clearly digital and computer storage - why not a BS5?

BC2 is more timeless than the BS4 - for my taste.

Why not BS 5 or Encore? I don't like the design. But why not a a Beomaster 5 to your BC2? You can controll it through your TV. Or why not add an MacMini with Beoport and control it by using Linkplayer. I have this Setup, Works fine for me....

If you're not using the DVD in the BC2 anymore because of the connections (s video right?), i would also prefer a BS4 to a BC2.

But if you have the BC2 already, i would keep it.

If i was deciding between the two, i would choose a BS4 - its' way sexier.

Some people say about BS5 (which i ultimately will go for), it depends if you prefer physical discs to electronic copies.

But it's BS4 for me.

Michael.

The former owner of our new house has BS4 on their livingroom wall, it looks good and I was thinking it would be less damage in the wall using the same headunit. If it is a good "better" machine.

Today we have a MacMini connected to our BC2, we don´t use the BeoPort, I have tried and I could not get it to work. Today we use our Ipad to control the music - works great both itunes and Spotify.

We have looked at the BS5, it can´t handle Spotify. Another point for us is that we like to play CDs, I have copied all our music to the Mac, but I still enjoy playing CDs :)

I think we will stick with the BC2 for a while more - it is a nice piece of art on the wall :)

Thx for all inputs

Peter is right on all of his statements. I have the BeoCenter 2 and have not used it at all since I bought the BeoSound 5. The convenience of having all of my music on a simple interface just makes the BeoCenter 2 obsolete. I don't even use the BeoCenter 2 for DVD playback since my Samsung blu-ray player is superior in every way. I still keep the BeoCenter 2 since it looks pretty. Just a useless piece of art now.

Agreed - I cannot remember the last disc I played on mine. I do however use the radio every day but that is always in another room by remote or turning on via timer in the BV5. I am correct in thinking that there is no radio in the BS5?
