8 gb flash drive

I know its of topic but im curious how much music could be stored on a 8 gb flash drive approx. if I wanted to

Hi Malcolm,

It depends on the format in which you store you music.

At 128Kbs it's about 4MB per typical 3/12 minute track, about 40MB per album. Double that for 256Kbps, and about 350MB for a lossless CD rip (FLAC or ALAC).

This would mean about 200 albums at 128Kbps, 100 for 256Kbps or about 22 lossless albums.

Of course the compression format you choose will have advantages and disadvantages compared to the others, and there will be quality differences between lossy formats of the same bitrate (e.g. AAC or WMA are generally acknowledged to sound better than MP3 at the same compression rate)

The choice, as they say, is yours!
