Well, I really did it this time. The cover of my Beogram 3404 seemed to be loosening on one side as the cover wouldn't come down completely on the right. Instead of doing to sensible thing and just tightening the screw on that side I decided to remove it all together to see if there was a bigger problem to be fixed. That's when the spring loaded thing flew out at me.

I have NO idea how to get this back on. I'm including pictures of the carnage. If anyone has instructions, experience, or diagrams for this I'd be very grateful. I'd hate to check this perfectly working turntable.

It's not too difficult if you know how and we can guide you.
But first check the right hinge part of the dustcover for cracks and breaks. Early symptoms
of a broken hinge is exactly difficulties when closing since the lid will sit slightly too far forward and
eventually hit the rear edge of the sloping front panel.

Yes, you're correct. The small hinge on the right side is starting to crack, though is not cracked all the way through. I can see the cracks, but pulling on the hinge doesn't cause any separation.

I suggest you drill through the broken pieces and glue in a tiny steel pin or two to strengthen the part.

That's probably out of technical ability and bag of tools, unfortunately.

Find a mechanics workshop, make copy in steel, paint black

Ok, so assuming I can repair the top, how do I reconnect it to the turntable?
