Hi all just new to this great forum. We own a beo master 5000 with beovoxS8B02 speakers. Recently we has a sewerage leak which affected our much loved speakers. We are looking for an equivalent speaker in another brand as our insurence  company conviently will not offer a replacement B&O speaker(grrrr) so unfortunately we are stuck with choosing another brand. Can anyone suggest a speaker that is close in comparison with our BeovoxS8B2?

Thanks

dean.

Hi, and welcome to Beoworld.

This really depends on what the settlement is, be it payment to the seller direct or money into your own account. If you specifically have to buy from a local hifi dealer then the best way is to go and listen to a selection of speakers that are within your price limit. Only your own ears can make that decision for you and there are a lot of very good speakers out there. Bowers and Wilkins, Mission, KEF are but a few names.

If, however, you are just receiving the money upfront then there is still scope to buy another set of S80 if you so wish. There are often many S series speakers on eBay but if you do go down that route make sure they have been re foamed and if possible recapped too. S80 would probably not be the first choice for many on this forum, instead looking at the S120 or the older, but better M75/100.

Maybe 'insisting' with your insurance company that it has to be B&O speakers but you are willing to buy second hand may be a way forward. If they have look at the current range, and prices, that may have frightened them a little!

PS. If you search 'Beovox' on eBay there is a set of S80.2 for sale for £249. This is, I believe, WAY too expensive but maybe negotiation with this seller is an option?

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Graeme.
