I have got a BG 5000 that makes a grinding sound as the platter rotates, it did not come with a cartridge so i put the MMC4 on it from my BC 7007 and as it tracked towards the end of the Record the vinyl seems to be catching on something as it rotated. I knew the cartridge was faulty i get a sound from it but it is very very low and from only one channel. Is it going to be cheaper / easier to get a new cartridge from soundsmiths? Or getting it refurbed?

Also the 7007 gets very warm along the back grill and suddenly turns it self off. I am looking at a BC 7700 lthat has no problems this would surely be the best option.(just have to smuggle it in the house without the missus seeing).

They need a service, so to that note does anyone know anywhere in the S.London/Surrey area that i could take these to for some TLC.

thanks in advance

Aaron.
