Hi all,

I went to pick up two old AVANTs yesterday and the lady ended up also giving me quite an old BS9000!!! Type 2525 but it is in great cosmetic order, it also works perfectly so far, however every now and then, some cd's scrape slightly (usually 1 will scrape and the rest are fine)

Also she makes a bit of sound when the clamper is at full speed, sort of a trundling railway track sound (not silent).

I have the screws set to > < and she is laying flat. When set to ^ ^ and is positioned vertically, all works perfectly (no scraping cd's)

Does she just need a service?

OR Should i sell her? I'm worried the glass may fall off if i opt for vertical placement.

Thank you so much, i really need advice here

wow this is quite the gift....i have had mine for 12 years and recently replaced the laser and it is back to new...if you still listen to CDs it is a great player...i have mine placed vertically all these years and never an issue. Probably good idea to have it serviced/refreshed to address any issues...

The two set screws should point in the same direction regardless of placement.  For flat horizontal positioning they should both point toward the body of the Beosound.

I tried every combination EXCEPT both pointing down! That has fixed it! Thank you SO much! :)

Hopefully the dealer will be able to ascertain whether or not the glass is a risk >>>

Thanks again, very grateful for your advice :)

Despite the notes on the Beoworld page, I've never heard of or seen a Beosound 9000 lose its glass!

That's reassuring, thank you! Are you going to be selling the stand she gave you by any chance?

My BS 9000 MkI is from 1998. During these 15 years the laser was replaced four times, the glass falled down and was broken and the board was faulty. I paid more than 2.000 EUR for repairs.

I love my BS 9000 for its design but I hate it for its sensivity!

Greetings

You might want to have a look at the docs available from the B&O Website.

This one is from 1996, i hope mine doesn't need a new laser that often, would be better off selling it and buying a MK2 if that's the case!

Thank you everyone for the tips!

PS

kallasr, i saw your youtube video on the mk2 changing CDs and mine makes the same trundling noise when moving at high speed - is that normal?
