Hi there,
I've got a BeoCom2 seems to be a MKI.
Is it possible to connect a BeoCom2 to a non Beo Dect Base?
Thank's for your help
gerard
Hi Gerard
In theory the answer is yes although not all functions on BeoCom2 will work with a non B&O PSTN base station. I friend of mine connected a mark1 BeoCom6000 to a Siemens base station and that worked at a basic level for him.

Opman
PS As long as it is a Mark1 handset and NOT the original system version which was supplied paired with a matching base (like BeoCom4).
How may I check if it is system version or MKI?
I thought MKI because of the photo posted here which made the difference between MKi and MKII regarding the charging contact of the handset.
EDIT: system menu:

Have you got a separate PSTN base station or does your black "domed" charger plug into the phone socket and mains socket?
The very original BeoCom2 was sold a s a matched set of handset & charger/base station. At a later date, the phone electronics were removed from the charger and it was used with the an external PSTN base that allowed up six handsets to be registered to the base.
Then the mark2 came along which as you say can be identified by looking at the battery contacts. The mark2 handset works with the current BeoLine PSTN and can have a maximum of eight handsets registered to it.
To answer your question, I suggest that you reset the handset, open your non B&O base for registration of a new handset and try. It will either work or it won't.
Your serial number indicates that this is a type 0808 and was originally supplied in 2001. I suspect that this may not work but good luck. ;-)
Thanks for your detailed answer.
I have a charger/base station. Base-station has a one cable with a splitting dot to bring 2 cables, one for power and the other one for tel.
What do you understand by "reset the handset".
How may I bring the handset into registration mode, it only says no contact to base.
Are there any firmware updates for this phone?
Thanks for your help
You have the original handset/base combination. It is not possible to register your handset to anything other than its matched base.
It is possible to have the software updated in your handset but that would only enable it to be registered to a mark1 PSTN panel. It would recognise the current BeoLine PSTN base.
The new mark2 handsets are backwards compatible with the old bases but the old handsets are NOT forward compatible with the current base.
Thank you very much for all the info.
Unfotunately I have got the wrong one because I want to use it on my existing DECT-base station.
Can you explain me how to reset the handset? I even can't register it its own bas-station.
You can't update the software yourself. It has to be done with the service tool by your dealer or an authorised service partner.
Yes I understood that.
But my Problem is also to use it as a stand olne phone, I can't register the hand set to the black "domed" charger.
What I tried:
- I switched of the HS by holding the big triangle button -> HS switches off
- I unpluged the black "domed" chargerfrom the wall plug.
- I pluged the black "domed" chargerin again
- I switched on the HS to get the registration menu, but only "Information" comes onto the display. pushing the triangle button says "No contact to base"
I'm stuck
EDIT:
I can't see any "indicator light" on the charger as marked in the getting started manual.
When I switch the handset OFF and ON there comes NO message saying: "register handset to base"
Your handset will not give you an option to register to a base as it was manufactured as a matched pair with its own base. If you have the correct base it should just power and connect automatically.
As that isn't happening you either have the wrong base for that handset or there is a fault present in one or the other.
The software update to the handset would in theory give you the option to register to another base but as I said earlier in this thread you may only get limited operation.
