I have an original pair of BEO 5500 Penta speakers which need about $400 in electronics repair to be working again.  These speakers were purchased in 1986 and the foam on the speakers has various holes and the top metal top/cap on one is bent and not flush with the speaker. I have looked on Ebay and have seen Penta speakers for sale anywhere from $300 to $1500 dollars which Im assuming is for speakers much less old and in better optical condition than mine.

Any thoughts on whether I should incur the above repair costs before selling or just try to sell as is on Ebay?  I also have the component units of the BEO 5500 system including receiver (plus master control panel), CD player and turntable which all work and which I will likely sell on Ebay as well.

Thanks.

If you are going to sell them, you are unlikely to get your money back by repairing the Pentas. The Beomaster and CD player should sell well and the record player will certainly sell especially if the cartridge is good. I would list the record player separately for the best price. The tape player is excellent but doesn't go for much.
