Hi all
I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times but when I tried to search, I got a lot of hits that covered replacing everything but the cartridge.
I purchased a 5500 recently and my Soundsmith cartridge will be arriving tomorrow. Anything I need to know about removing the cartridge and replacing it? I've been waiting a long time for this and don't want to break it
The MMC4 etc simply pull out. They attach with 4 relatively sturdy pins and the new one just pushes on. However do this as infrequently as possible as they can loosen and lose their connections. So grip the arm at the head end with one hand to steady it and finger and thumb of the other hand on the sides of the cartridge and a gentle pull. A little mild twisting may be required to get the old one off!
