My M100-2s always sounded just a tad boomy if I turned the bass up. I've just fitted some spikes to them and difference is sound for £20 is amazing. I think the problem is that the carpet is on a wooden floor and that amplifies the bass.
Anyway, I thought I'd pass this on as others with floor standing speakers may want to give it a go = wish I'd discovered that simple tweak years ago.
Did you place the spikes under the floorstands?

Hi there - yes one on each course of the metal floor stand so they spike through the carpet and into the floor - it's made a huge difference.
