I got inspired by Mika's thread on his BM6500, and decided to order new caps for my BM7000. I got them the other week and today I finally got around to do it. I replaced all electrolyts for Wimas and Nichicons audio grade (I managed to forget to order some for the tuner board, so I left that for now).
All I can say is DAMN! I never would have thought that the difference would be so huge. It's like an entirely different amplifier. It sounds absolutely fantastic! It's probably the most worthwhile thing I've done in a long time.
Next up will be the CD and the RIAA.
Thanks for the inspiration, Mika!

Well done! I still haven't tried mine with any passive speakers, so I might not have heard all of the change. I guess it will depend on the particular unit and what kind of life it has spent - my 7000 system (the GF has it) had earlier been installed inside a closet (yes, why? ) where it apparently had been warm... despite being much younger than my 6500, it was practically shot when I got it, and I had to do the recap simply to make it work.
I think I'm going to attack the RIAA of my BG6500 soon as well. I suppose you have found this old thread in the archives:

Yes, I did look at that thread. I even got the OP-amps, but I think I will start with just replacing the caps and do the upgrade in two steps. It's more fun that way..
