Hi all, great to find a forum with this much knowledge! As a newbie my questions might be trivial, but please bear with me.
I recently acquired a Beogram 9500 to go with my old trusted Beocenter 9500. The MMC2 cartridge that it came with was out of service, but the good people at Soundsmith rebuilt it. Now the player sounds great, but a couple of things about it trouble me:
1. The light behind the turntable at the far left corner is lit continuously, whenever the power cord is connected.
2. Beocenter controls don't seem to be able to control the record player, only the buttons on the Beogram start or stop the playback.
Is there something I've missed here? The record player is attached to the "phono" connection on the back of the Beocenter, with a 5-pin DIN plug.

Do not know the beocenter 9500 (maybe soon), but I think it should be a 7pin plug.
Probably 2 pins are missing in the plug?

Thanks guys, that really could explain the behaviour. The plug looks like the two missing could be reattached? And it seems to be the original chord, too, fixed to the Beogram.

Yes - they simply unscrew, and somebody seems to have done just that. Actually you only need one of the pins, number 6 (I think) for this Beogram.
The light constantly being on might be a shorted control transistor (TR3), I think we've seen that fault a couple of times on the forum. Simple to troubleshoot & fix in principle, but might require quite a bit of disassembly to get there.

Two (temporary) missing pins inserted, remote control via the Beocenter now works like charm! Light's still constantly on, though, guess I'll have to look into the faulty transistor next.
Or as a fellow Finn, tournedos, do you happen to know anyone with the knowledge/time to do this?

I'm near you in Espoo, and if you can't find help elsewhere, I can take a look (once the hunting season tapers off, I barely have time to sleep now...).
Meanwhile, if the light bothers you, you could just remove / disconnect the bulb - the light isn't very useful in any case. I seem to recall that the bulb is accessible if you first remove the fixed part of the top cover behind the moving lid. That's two screws on the rear panel of the Beogram.
