Hi

At the moment I can't afford to buy a new Beovision but I still have my lovely Beolab 9 and Beolab 8000. I would like to connect it to a non B&O TV with a Onkyo TX-NR1008 receiver. I tried several settings and now it is working. Unfortunately, the sound is not very good. (I know I should use a BeoSystem)

Does anyone know which setting is recommended. I don't know how much ohm and Hz I can choose for my Beolabs. I am afraid I will destroy the speaker by using the wrong configuration.

If someone is using also an Onkyo receiver: which setting do you recommend for the sound? DTS, THX, all channel, etc.?

Thank you very much in advance

You should use the line-out connections.

Using the speaker-output could damage the Lab's.

If there is no line-out, you would have to use some kind of attenuator:

I have an TX NR 708, you will never be able to drive your BL8000 loud, normal listening level is where you can get , these amps has a line output of 200 mV, not enough to drive the speakers, probably the same with BL 9. To get the loudest level, Home menú and set the dynamic Eq and volume as seen below. Try the different dolby and thx settings for loudness, some are better some are worse

Setup:

Speaker settings, impedance 4 Ohms

Equalizer Audyssey

Listening mode : analog, mono, 2ch: al cannel stereo. Rest straight decode

Home menú:

Dynamic EQ: on

Dynamic volume: light

This for each feed, DVD, TV phono and so on

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

I am running an AVR with Beolabs with special cables, see my signature.

Search for 5.1 with non b&o tv in my posts, thanks.

Thank you very much for your help. Now it sounds much better. It is still not as good as with a BeoVision but it might be because of my cheap center loudspeaker.
