I have a Beomaster 7000 installed in the first corner of a very large L-shaped room. In order to be able to control it from the opposite corner of the room as well, I added a MCL2A with an IR sensor (my speakers are connected to the Beomaster, not the MCL).
I am perfectly happy with this setup, with one exception: if I activate the system from the opposite corner of the room, the speakers remain in standby. This is normal behaviour: the system believes that I am in a Link room and that the main speakers should remain silent (of course, once the system is activated from the first corner of the room, I can control it perfectly from the opposite side through the MCL sensor).
So this is my question: is there a way to setup a Beomaster 7000 to un-mute the main speakers when activated through a MCL2A?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
PS:
- Connecting the speakers to the MCL is not an option, as it would only transfer the problem to the first corner of the room instead of the opposite corner
- Using an optional IR sensor directly connected to the Beomaster (as described in http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/7463/67962.aspx#67962) is not an option as I use the manual "Mute/Standby" button on the MLC sensor when I leave the room (and I would love to do so when entering the room as well in order to activate the system)
- I sometimes use headphones in the first corner of the room, so the mute relay should remain unaltered and work normally
- I can use a Beocenter 9500 or a Beomaster 4500 instead, but I don't believe this will make it easier
Try connecting a X-tra speaker kit. Program it to option 4. You then should be able to use your system by pushing radio/cd/tap/etc.
Hope this will solve your problem...

So it will look like this without the two extra speakers.
I am doubting more and more whether or not this would work, but I think it is worth the shot!
The MCL is attached to the speaker 2 output and cannot unmute the 7000. You could set up a timer to turn them both on at certain times but otherwise you will have to either use a remote or walk!
Peter
Then you cannot mute the main speakers.
Many thanks for your replies. Well, this confirms my expectation. But that's ok, I will walk, let's not be lazy after all
PS: just out of technical curiosity: can the MCL be connected to Speakers 1 as mentioned by Carolpa? I thought the 4-pin Speakers 1 connection was designed for the Beolab Penta MkI, while only the 3-pin Speaker 2 could work with MCL? Or did I misunderstood? Anyway, this is just out of curiosity. Thanks!
The MCL2A relay box requires power to work; it gets this from the extra pin on the Speaker 2 right channel connection. The extra pin on the left channel is datalink.
On the Speaker 1 sockets, the extra pin on both L and R channels is datalink, hence there is no power supply and the MCL2A will not work if connected here.
You could of course try taking the speaker (and datalink) connections from the Speaker 1 sockets and the power from speaker 2 Right channel, and see what happens...
Why not "fool" the system and connect both speaker outputs to the same speakers...?
I had a similiar setup in a linkroom with BS7000 as a local source and an MCL2A as a linkstation from a BC9500 in the mainroom.
MCL2A set to L.OPT 4, BS7000 A.OPT 1, all speaker outputs conncted to a nice little pair of RL1000s - worked well.
I avoided to have both systems activated at the same time,as this resulted in a worse sound quality, and of course an overlapping of two different sources when both systems were playing music... - but maybe not a problem if you are using the same system...(?)
Otherwise - I don`t know HOW large your room is, but Beo ir commands are very powerful, and they can even be sent "round the corner", especially when a mirror at the wall or a picture with a glass frame can reflect the command - maybe worth a try.

Many thanks to you all for your comments

Good point, I could try elaborating on that idea. However, I have Beolab speakers with PowerLink.
Simple. Replace your MCL2A with an MC2AV - you can use the same ir receiver - and you will have two Powerlink outputs....:)
