Hi all,
Up until recently I was running my Penta Labs through my Beosystem 6500 and then the BS6500 connected to the BV5
Now i'm minus the BS6500, so have plugged the Pentas as fronts directly into the sockets in the back of BV5. All is fine with that.
But i also want to connect up a pair of BL8000's into the BV5 as rears - but they are just remaining in standby. When i go into tv menu set up, into speakers, the LED's turn green to adjust speaker levels - but then revert back to standby again......
I have correctly set the L & R switches at the back of the 8000's but no joy....
Could anybody suggest what i'm missing.....?

Use speaker 4 of speaker 5 to turn the 8000's on? Use a digital connection from any source to the digital RCA input for Dolby Digital,or DTS for surround experience.
LIST - SPEAKER - 4 on your BEO4 should turn on the rears. Depends on what source you use when you use your system as to which speakers turn on. e.g. Music alone (radio or connected CD player) just turns on fronts so if you want the rears you need to tell the BV5 which speakers to use.

Yes Dave, you are spot on, just realised I need to alter the speaker option on Beo4.
Speaker 4 has brought the 8000's on, thanks.
One more question, the SPEAKER3 option seems to be the 'default' setting on my TV. Is this normal, or can i set it to SPEAKER4 as a permanent setting? I.e. all 4 speakers come on everytime i switch the tv on?

I don't think you can. The BV5 seems to think that the optimum speaker configuration is normally for the SPEAKER 3 option. I do not know of a way of changing this set-up. I believe that with some DVD's, depending on what sound set-up is on the disc, the speaker configuration can change automatically but I've never experienced this with my BV5 and Beocenter 2 set-up. Have you got the user manual or looked in the product section here on Beoworld?

More recent version's of the BV5, can be fitted with newer software. Latest version 16.3
This software allows you to set the speakersetting when you startup the BV5.
Speaker 2 or 4 for Audio
Speaker 3 or 5 for Video.
