Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether or not I can connect a satellite box which has the component outputs to the AVANT? I am not interested in watching through composite! If not do you know of a converter i could buy?

Thanks so much...

The Avant WILL NOT accept a Ypbpr (previously called a YUV) signal on its Scart input, without a very expensive converter system.

That won't work because the BV does nor accept component over scart.

Dave needs  something like this that converts the component:

N.B. Don't expect wonders!

Hey Seanie! :)

Wont work wirh a simple cable eh? Bummer! :(

That converter looks great millemissen, why do you say not to expect wonders? For years I've been watching television and DVD via RGB scart and it's perfect, will this converter give me the same picture quality?

Thanks so much for the replies guys!!

Hi Dave,

if you are used to watching on the Avant - which isn't bad at all - it might be ok.

But if you know how a higher quality source can look on a modern display (via YPBPR  or HDMI) you will certainly see the difference.

I use a HDMI to scart converter for an ATV on my old Avant - and that is by far not the quality that I see on my main-tv.

You should try it out - look for an online-shop where you can return the converter - if you want/need to -  without problems.

Would be nice to hear the results when/if you buy the converter.

Greetings Millemissen

Many thanks for the advice here (albeit a late reply), I've just picked one of these up to convert the YUV (component) to RGB SCART and will let you all know how it works once i have my TV and this box in the same room as each other!

I picked this particular converter box up on ebay for only $34 which is FABULOUS.
