Hello!

I have a lot of ghosting (seeing dobble shadows) on my tv in 3D, my friend has a 65" Samsung plasma has almost nothing of this problem. Is this a common problem on this tv?

Beovision 7-55" 3D, Beosound 5, Beolab 9, Beolab 8000, Beovision 6, Beo 6, Beoremote one, H8, H2.

Screen/monitor temperature is very important for 3D TV, which is based on LCD technology. This is because the LCD material response becomes faster when the screen/monitor reach higher temperatures. Ghosting is most visible when the screen is cold, and therefore depends on how long the TV has been turned on before you start to see 3D TV. When the TV is turned on for about an hour, the LCD screen has reached the final operating temperature, and ghosting is at the lowest level.

Hi !

I am also very disappointed by the 3D function of the beovision 7 55. Much brightness and contrast but awfull ghosting and other problems I cannot exactly define but a general impression of gadget rather than anything else.

I tried Prometheus and Hugo Cabret 3D versions on other configurations (not B&O) and it was perfect. The problem doesn't come from the BR player because it's the same with 3D films on the cable.

My impression is that it commes from the glasses but i'm maybe wrong

It's the first time  I read someone seems to realize that 3D is not good with that so expensive TV

I agree with these comments, although I admit that I have no experience watching 3D movies with non-BO TVs. Haven't tried non-BO glasses as well.

'Ghosting' seems to me the main issue, even if the TV has been on for some time. Also, when things move fast on the screen, the picture is just horrible.

For me the 3D function of the 7-55 is just a gadget, which can perhaps please children when watching an animation movie, or impress friends for a few minutes. But if you wanna enjoy a whole-length movie, switch to 2D.

Very disappointing for such an expensive TV...

Hi Gabriel, this was a slight mismatch in timing between the glasses and the TV signal, fixed by a software update long ago - you need to get the patch and then the 3D will be perfect and very very impressive.

Hi MartinW

Happy to learn there is a solution to this issue. The TV I bought was indeed in the shop since a very longtime because sailor tried to sell a 2D modell (exposition's modell). So I hope that you're right and that the technician has omitted to make the update. Is it also important to make the software update of the BR player ?

Do you know the reference of your software ?

Thx for answer

Sorry to disagree Martinw, , but after software update by technician, the same problem did remain. I agree with BEOCET who said that the image becomes better after one hour (I would say after half an hour) but it's still not perfect.

Still have to do a software update of the BR player (download is interrupted each time i have tried with the mesage "error during download)" but problem occurs also on VOD, so few hope that update succeeds to solve this issue.

strange that so few poeple complain about that

Sorry to hear the software hasn't fixed your issue - we have 2 Mk2 BV7-55's on display here and many with customers - the 3D is great with no ghosting - but as I said before that is since the software was updated about a year ago.

You may have faulty glasses that are not syncing properly with the TV.

Don't settle for poor ghosting though - that is not a feature of the BV7-55 Mk2!

Hi,

I have since beginning noticed the ghosting effect in 3D. When the Tv has been on about one hour, then you reach the maximum performance of the screen and therfore minimum of ghosting, but it is still there!

The BV 7-55 3D suffer also from another problem: CLOUDING EFFECT in 3D-mode. I have had my TV changed 4 times because of this, but still a lot of clouding effect in 3D-mode. In 2D-mode the picture is perfect but 3D is not so very good for the price-tag of the TV.

NEW! Beovision Eclipse 65 2nd generation (G1) with floorstand (from STB Brackets), Beolab 50 front, Beolab 3 rear, 2 x Beoplay A6 linkrooms, 2xBeoremote one BT, Beosound 9000 Mark III (sw 3.4), Beosound 5 (for DLNA only),  Philips Hue (all lights in the home), Oppo UDP-203, Apple TV 4K (2021 model). Beoremote HALO, 3xBeoplay Charging pad, Beoplay M5

Updated the BV 7-55 3D to the latest firmware and after having watched 2 3D movies, I must admit that the quality improved and that the mentioned side-effects disappeared or were barely noticeable.

Hi Gabriel,

if you press RED - GO instead of 0 0 GO you call the customer service menue and there the BUILD is shown under SW VER.

Hi

I do agree with you Martin. Meanwhile recent software update ( SW13.12a for AP and SW23.00a for IOP like mentioned above), still need one hour for the optimal performance : 3D films are then very well watchable (still not perfect), but is it normal to wait one hour to can watch a film ?

In my experience, you must also wait in 3D mode and not 2D. So it doesn't help to watch another program on TV before the 3D film. You have to launch the 3D film, quit the room, come back after one hour et then watch your 3D film in good conditions (not perfect but good)

I also noticed persistant clouding in 3D

Since the last blu ray update, blu ray player restart sometimes from the beginning and not from the point where I stopped  watching (it depends on the type of blu ray disc)

I've watched several 3D movies on BV 7-55 since the firmware update. It´s true that the update improved or fixed several issues, but I think there is one additional issue B&O won't be able to improve: the 3D filming of the movie itself.

While several movies are just amazing in 3D (latest Ice Age, Man in Black 3), others are awful to watch in 3D (Amazing Spiderman).

Perhaps, some of the bad reviews of the 3D function of the 7-55 were based on bad 3D movies, but again I agree that there were some initial issues.

Well, since there are no reviews of the 3D filming of the BRD we buy, it´s just a matter of luck to get the pearl or not!

Did anyone watch Iron Man 3 in 3D on BV 7-55?

Just awful. Ghosting effects were terrible, picture fuzzy. Thought the glasses were the cause and changed them, but didn't help. Only solution was to switch to 2D after 5 min watching the movie...

Very disappointing..,

I find lots of reviews for 3D's here:

Thanks fort the link. Much helpful... and now I can understand why the 3D movie was not good: "Iron Man 3 simply isn't built to be a 3D spectacle" Why the hell did they actually release the 3D BRD if it's non-watchable!?
