Is Spotify Premium 'good enough' for a B&O setup?

Or should it have been WiMP HiFi?

Or at least -  should we (some day) be able to chooce 'our own' 'Music Service'?

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

I only listen to it through a Beovision 11-46/Beolab 14 sub combo and it's sufficient for this. I can see Spotify allowing CD quality downloads being available(at an increased cost) in the very near future. This should suit folk with a much more dedicated setup(Beolab 5's etc)

Now if they did movies like Apple TV, but with the improved sound qualities of a BluRay disc then they would have a one stop winner.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

But, as I keep saying, this is the modern irony about some B&O users on this forum who constantly discuss the speakers they want to buy next - thousands of pounds - but then are happy to listen to standard compressed Dolby Digital movie audio via their Apple TV. It pales in comparison to the uncompressed HD audio you get from either a Blu-ray or a ripped Blu-ray (I back up my movies to a NAS drive).

Why spend £5000 or more on a set of surround speakers and hinder the audio experience with average compressed audio? Just seems very odd to me.

As for Spotify, I recently purchased the latest Depeche Mode album, which is well produced. I decided to spend some time with a self-confessed audiophile friend comparing the quality between Spotify and the CD version. We both noted a distinct wider sound with the CD version. The lead singer had more depth. It was marginal, sure, but the very reason we spend thousands on speakers is.....to appreciate audio!

Buy yourself a pair of off-the-shelf £500 speakers from Argos, you'd find you do not hear the differences between the track from the CD and the version on Spotify Premium.
