Hi,
So I've bought my self the Beolab 14.4 system and connected it to my Beoplay V1.
I've spend the last few days testing the system with various sources, and was quite puzzled by a few things.
In the technical sound guide it is stated that when the input is 5.1 and all of the spacious and room settings at set at default, then the True Image will output a unmodified signal to all the speakers. However in my testing I've experienced that sound meant for the left or right surround speaker was played by both speakers. First I thought this had to do with my sound decoder. Currently I use Plex Media Server to feed my AppleTV through PlexConnect. The sound is transcoded to DD 5.1 by Plex. So naturally I thought it was my rarther "undirect" setup which caused these problems.
Further testing with a Blu-ray test disc lead me to the same conclusions. But again, the sound needed to be decoded by my Blu-ray player, as the V1 doesn't accept DTS 5.1+.
But by further testing I've found out that setting the sound processor to 1:1 instead of True Image, the sound sent to the left or right surround speaker is only played by that speaker.
My Speaker setup is just as described in the user guide to the Beolab 14. So it shouldn't have to do with the TV not recognizing my setup as true 5.1.
Have anything else had the chance to fiddle with the surround processor and found the same problem?
Maybe Geoff have an explanation for this behavior?
