I was just given a:

Bang and Olufsen Beogram RX2, Type 5833
Serial Number 34890017
MMC 4 Cartridge and Stylus

It does work and it is in very nice condition, but there are a few things I would like to make better.  The dust cover is fine, but the previous owner removed it while taking it out of his stereo cabinet.  I have all the parts to reassemble it, but there are two parts that he thought went into the two adjusting screw parts on the back.  They fell out when he removed it, and he was not sure where they go exactly.  There are 3 screws with nuts that are at both ends and one in the middle to secure the dust cover (and these are obvious), but in between those are two adjusting screws and the attached photo shows these small plastic pieces that look like dumb bells a weight lifter would use.  Can you tell me exactly where they go and what you suggest so I can reassemble this correctly?  I have attached photos to show the parts and the appearance of the back of the turntable, and two red arrows show the location I think the two parts go in some manner.

Secondly, there are fine scratches on the smoke colored dust cover and I would like to polish those and make it like new.  Any suggestions?  Do you know the composition of the dust cover - like acrylic or polycarbonate, as that would change the approach to polishing it?  If you have specific advice on how to best restore this, I would be most appreciative.

I also saw previous posts by Dillen, and I suspect he is vastly knowledgeable on my topic.

Thank you kindly.   Mike Reisman - reism@cox.net - (480) 694-4808

Photo showing the back of the turntable where I suspect these go.

Just to clarify, the photo showing the 2 parts I am unclear about are extremely enlarged.  In actual size these two parts measure 5 mm in length and 5 mm in diameter.   Thanks for your help with this problem.   Mike

Those rolls are supposed to sit under the lid.
They go between the spring arms that reach out benath the cover and the cover itself.
To prevent the springs arms from scratching the underside of the cover.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

+1 on the Novus ( it really works if you are slow and patient)

never tried car wax after the Novus 3 - might have to try it one day

Go to your local auto parts store and get some headlight polish.  Works great on RX2 and 3404 dust covers.  I've used it on 5.

I don't think I would use it on my 4002 cover though.  Luckily, the 4002 hasn't needed it.

You'll also want to get an applicator pad while you're at the auto parts store.  Total investment should be about $10.
